Job Details

The Role:
The Principal Software Engineer will report to the Informatics Architecture & DevOps Associate Director and be responsible for working with team members to develop the Webapp Frameworks that underlie the Informatics Platform. In this role, you will engage our Developers to understand Platform-wide needs and then design, develop, deploy, and maintain custom software frameworks and workspace tools that improve Webapp Development. This position will be based in Cambridge, MA.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Partner closely with Webapp Developers to understand business needs and design solutions 

  • Create, maintain, and evolve full-stack TypeScript Webapp and test Frameworks as part of a team 

  • Create code-generation Tools for Webapp Developers

  • Build and deploy cloud-based Webapps to AWS

  • Create/Run code-quality, webapp-performance, and system-security analysis Tools and Systems

  • Deliver code/webapp quality and security analytics

  • Deliver solutions to Webapp Developers in an extremely rapid, agile cycle 

  • Create the documentation necessary for Developers to use said Webapp Frameworks and Tools

  • Spearhead the continued technical and security education of our Webapp Developers

  • Contribute to many different projects in a dynamic, fast-moving environment 

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience working toward the delivery of software solutions for software developers; particularly shared application libraries.

  • Proven experience with the following:

    • Developing enterprise-scale microservice applications for the AWS cloud.

    • SQL and modeling relational databases. PostgreSQL experience preferred.

    • Creating Node.js webapps. NestJS experience preferred.

    • Designing webapp REST APIs. OpenAPI familiarity preferred.

    • Creating Angular apps and projects. Angular v10+ preferred.

    • Designing beautiful and effective webapp UI/UX with modern TypeScript libraries.

    • Developing Unit, API, and E2E tests. Jest and Cypress experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with NX monorepo tooling preferred.

  • Knowledge of software development best practices: Agile, GitFlow, SemVer, etc.

  • Effective communication skills and proven ability to work directly with customers to understand requirements
