Senior Manager/Associate Director, Diagnostic Bioinformatics

OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is seeking an Senior Manager / Associate Director with expertise in bioinformatics and software engineering to join its Diagnostics team. This role will lead a team focused on designing new diagnostics assays, supporting data needs for on-going research projects, and developing in-house software tools for data analysis and data tracking.

The successful candidate will contribute towards Mammoth’s efforts to develop innovative CRISPR-based diagnostic products that enable consumers to access their health information in a timely manner. This position will work closely with both the diagnostics research and development teams on a variety of projects including primer and gRNA design.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive the strategy and success of projects that enable diagnostic research teams to design experiment, access their data, and generate robust analyses
• Identify and implement new technologies that enable the Bioinformatic team to provide design and analysis tools to wet lab scientists
• Facilitate sample tracking and improve team user experience in Benchling ELN
• Develop SOPs and other documentation for internal software validation and follow best practices for software development in regulated environments
• Manage team of bioinformaticians, data scientists, data engineers, and software engineers to deliver on project goals
• Prepare data and content for presentations, white papers, or other company-relevant materials

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology or related field and 4 years of industry experience (Sr. Manager) or 5 years of industry experience (Associate Director)
• Experience leading bioinformatics and/or software teams
• Proficiency with Python, R, SQL, and tools/libraries for data analysis
• Experience working with cloud environments (i.e. AWS)
• Extensive experience in bioinformatics tool and pipeline development
• Experience working with Github

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Understanding of multiplex primer design requirements for PCR and isothermal assays
• Experience with analyzing viral diversity (e.g. SARS-CoV-2)
• Experience working and developing bioinformatics production systems
• Familiarity with CRISPR-Cas literature
• Knowledge of statistical methods and mathematical models in the interpretation of biological data
• Experience working on the development of diagnostic assays (510(k), CE-IVD)
• Strong communication, data visualization, and organization skills
