The Frederick National Laboratory is a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) sponsored by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and operated by Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.  The lab addresses some of the most urgent and intractable problems in the biomedical sciences in cancer and AIDS, drug development and first-in-human clinical trials, applications of nanotechnology in medicine, and rapid response to emerging threats of infectious diseases.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Clinical Services Program's (CSP) primary mission is to perform sequential studies of immune function in patients with cancer, AIDS, chronic granulomatous disease or other diseases associated with immunologic dysfunction, as well as to monitor viral load in patients with HIV. 

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Support research activities for a project that would focus the on the mechanism of long noncoding RNA on HIV replication
  • Design and implement protocols, as well as troubleshoot assays and experiments independently
  •  Evaluate, analyze, and compile data
  •  Present data and prepare reports
  •  Remain current on literature and laboratory techniques 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  •  Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university according to Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education). Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to education requirment, a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  •  Must have strong scientific background in Cell Biology and Immunology
  •  Expertise in standard tissue culture and immunological techniques, including aseptic techniques, cell line maintenance, western-blot, ELISA, and PCR
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:  

  • Expertise in working with lentiviruses
  •  Prior experience in in-situ hybridization, confocal microscopy, and flow cytometry
