Your role

Part of the Medicago Global Engineering Team, reporting to the Senior Director, Engineering and in collaboration with internal clients, the incumbent will be responsible for defining, planning, monitoring, and executing major capitalization projects involving manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, laboratories, etc., for the Medicago, Durham, NC site. 

 

What your days would look like: 


  • Lead and manage cross-functional project teams to ensure the customers' project goals and objectives are met.
  • Develop, plan, and manage all aspects of the execution process for complex projects: Definition of scoping, design, execution, validation, commissioning, closeout and transfer.
  • Locate external suppliers, construction or engineering contractors and equipment manufacturers, negotiate with them, then manage their activities in support of project delivery. 
  • Support manufacturing, facilities, and utility systems in relation to troubleshooting, solve complex technical issues, root cause analyses, and implement projects for effective corrective actions and improvements.
  • Provide expertise within the framework of regulatory compliance and interact with auditors - inspectors as required.
  • Execute documentation related to technical modification management, events related to quality (e.g., change control, corrective measures, preventive measures, etc.) and project closure.
  • Promote compliance with workplace safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by abiding by site procedures in these areas.
  • Promote teamwork and clear communication by listening carefully, analyzing comments, asking relevant questions, and being resourceful and persuasive.
  • Mentor engineering team members on all aspects of good project management practices.



Required profile: 


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a relevant discipline (specialization in project management).
  • 12+ years as a Project Manager, pharmaceutical industry preferred.
  • Experience in technology transfer or production start-up.
  • Knowledge of current GMPs, validation principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing plant, facility systems and infrastructure, including HVAC, clean steam, compressed air, USP water systems, etc.
  • Comprehensive industrial technical knowledge in multiple engineering disciplines. 
  • Experience in the use of automated equipment and instruments (PLC, PC, operator-machine interface), and digital control systems.
  • Experience successfully managing multiple complex projects from start to finish.                       
  • PMP certification preferred.
