Waters Corporation is currently looking for a Mass Spectrometry Application Specialist (Solution Support Specialist) in the field of biopharmaceutical analysis. This exciting new opportunity is supporting Waters novel bioprocessing initiative and is key to enable customers to gain maximum benefit linking Waters BioAccord solution with Sartorious Ambr bioreactors to accelerate clone selection and process development of biotherapeutics. The incumbent will work as part of an integrated national team of LC and MS Application Specialists within Americas Professional Services focused on customer application training and support.

The position offers an international working atmosphere, learning from peers with decades of application experience in Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry, the opportunity to network with product development and marketing and sales departments, and ample growth opportunities for the future.

The position requires a strong background in biological mass spectrometry, biopharma LCMS application and sample preparation, excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving, and a desire to be at the forefront of biotherapeutic manufacturing support. A sound understanding of upstream and downstream bioprocessing is an advantage.

The ideal location for this role is in the Boston, MA area. Surrounding areas such as Princeton, NJ and Philadelphia, PA would also be considered. The position requires travel to customer sites (~75% travel) to provide customer training and applications support for Waters' leading-edge LC/MS systems.

Responsibilities

 

  • Perform on-site customer training and application support on Waters' BioAccord Smart MS under UNIFI and/or waters_connect informatics platform
  • Support customers in the LCMS analysis of Intact Protein and Cell Culture Media in support of biotherapeutic manufacturing
  • Act as scientific partner with customer to ensure success and drive initiative goals and deliverables
  • Continuous growth of technical expertise on Waters MS systems and informatics products
  • Act as internal Subject Matter Expert to drive collaboration and support of local Waters' teams
  • Participate in global continuous improvement discussions to advance the support capabilities of the Waters bioprocessing initiative

 

Qualifications

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or related field with 3-5 years of relevant experience, MS with 1-3 years relevant experience, or Ph.D. with 0-1 years relevant experience
  • Hands on experience specializing in biopharmaceutical mass spectrometry and data analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of protein manufacturing process (upstream/downstream) is a plus.
  • Experience with Waters' LCMS systems and informatics products is an advantage
  • Demonstrates ability to work both independently and as a member of local / global teams
  • The candidate should be self-motivated, accountable, inquisitive, and have excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Strong networking and communication skills to interact with customers and internal Waters stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Previous lecturing and/or teaching experience is an advantage                                                                   #
