This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois. Remote work from certain states may be permitted in accordance with Astellas' Responsible Flexibility Guidelines. Candidates interested in remote work are encouraged to apply.

Purpose and Scope:

  • Identify data needs across the Commercial Insights functions (for pipeline and global brands) and work cross functionally and cross regionally to source the required data sets.

  • Work collaboratively across the Commercial organization to maintain a clear understanding of best-in -class data sources and uses by category and by country, and maintain documentation using Data and KPI Catalogues.

  • Create transparency and expand access to existing data sources, introduce innovative data sources and add value to the Commercial Insights deliverables and service offering

  • Support the Commercial Data Sourcing Program (CDSP) to systematically evaluate, prioritize and validate data purchases across the commercial organization

  • Deliver cost optimization through the centralization of data related purchases across the business, calibrating the preferred supplier portfolio to maximize integrity & value-add of external data sources

  • Establish a strong partnership with other global functions such as Global Procurement, Legal and Finance, AIA, Patient Centricity, Portfolio Strategy and Medical Affairs to share best practices, new uses of data and new sources

  • Support the development of internal data sourcing processes and standards

  • Collaborate across the Data Strategy pillars of Data Stewardship and Data Platforms Management to secure data and enable downstream warehouse, analytics and reporting processes

  • Embody the Ethics and Compliance culture and Integrity in Action by proactively addressing non-compliance

  • Leverage extensive networks to identify partnership opportunities within and without the sector to drive innovation

  • Manage the preferred supplier portfolio for related services and products

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of global and local data sources, including uses and limitations

  • Strong commercial acumen

  • Strong process viewpoint

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders

  • Adept at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Politically astute with sound judgement and able to challenge respectively and constructively

  • Impactful, credible with senior stakeholders internally and externally, able to effectively influence and deliver results through influence and persuasion

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Able to organize and prioritize workload

  • Fluent in written and spoken business English (ideally with Japanese or a second European language)

  • Techniques of continuous improvement

  • Good knowledge of Data Privacy and Data Compliance policies and procedures

Qualifications:

Required

  • Undergraduate or equivalent degree in Business, Science or Engineering

  • Evidenced experience in evaluating data sources

  • Partnering with Procurement in creation of data sourcing plans

  • Demonstrable experience of execution excellence particularly around capabilities and application to achieve highly successful outcomes

  • Experience in Business Intelligence and a good understanding of the data utilized to support business decisions across the value chain

  • Internal customer and third party vendor relationship management

Preferred

  • Pharma experience

  • Exposure of working with global and local data sources

  • Experience working across multi-functional global and geographical entities
