JOB SUMMARY:   
Sangamo Therapeutics is seeking an experienced, passionate, creative, and analytical internal communications professional to join our team.  In this role, you will support the strategy, creation, development, execution and evaluation of internal communications that directly impact employee engagement and Sangamo’s culture. 

We are seeking an organized individual who can develop compelling content that is fresh, engaging and visually appealing and that connects employees to the company mission. Must be proficient in transforming abstract and complicated issues into simple and powerful narratives and is passionate about establishing and maintaining programs and managing internal communications initiatives that will keep employees informed, inspired, connected and engaged to Sangamo’s mission and core values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Propose, design and implement innovative internal communications plans
  • Drive and manage an active internal communications calendar
  • Lead and develop internal communications, including:
  • Working closely with Vice President – Head of Communications & IR and Senior Director – Corporate Communications, and members of the senior management team, including the CEO, on town hall presentation content development, process, and execution
  • Proactive management of company intranet to drive engagement, utilization, and connection to company culture           
  • Internal leadership emails
  • Internal branding and process
  • Internal communications content and channel strategy
  • Develop and foster relationships across the organization to support different initiatives and leaders through communication that reinforces Sangamo’s vision, strategy, and culture.
  • Provide well-written, researched, vetted, and clear consistent internal business communications spanning organizational announcements, leadership communication, change management, meeting presentations, multimedia, scripts, key messages and talking points.
  • Partner with Human Resources and the DEI Team on internal culture initiatives
  • Propose and implement innovative ways to showcase the leadership narrative through communications and engaging experiences both in-person, virtually, and digitally.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and IR team on the development of Communications strategy and budget.
  • Periodically develop and evaluate metrics measuring performance of internal communication programs.
  • Coordinate effectively with external vendors



EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience working in Communications, preferably in biotech/pharmaceutical company. Agency experience preferred.  Level will be dependent on skills and experience.
  • Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. 
  • Passion for company culture and creating a unique and rewarding employee experience.
  • Experience in developing modern, user-oriented company intranets and working knowledge of SharePoint Modern
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, good conflict management and negotiation skills, ability to analyse complex issues to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into action; excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way and to orchestrate plans to resolve issues and mitigate risks.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.  Highly effective at distilling complex and sometimes voluminous content in to clear, concise and engaging communications.
  • Strong understanding of executive communication, employee engagement, and innovative and effective communication channels
  • Ultimate team player that has a customer service approach and is solution oriented.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Great organizational skills: effective at managing priorities and consistently meeting deadlines and able to handle and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Understanding of confidentiality, sensitivity around material non-public information.
