Senior Cloud Engineer

The Senior Cloud Engineer should consider themselves part SRE, part DevOps lead, and will write code and implement systems to manage a complex AWS environment supporting software development teams, hybrid cloud manufacturing facilities, data scientists, and HPC consumers.

You will work hands on as architect orchestrating a nationwide rollout of AWS Outposts to biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, and work in coordination with our security team to define and implement the networking and account structure required to support them. You will help define security and audit controls, and implement the automated tooling required to enforce them using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), AWS Lambda Functions, and AWS Step Functions. You will help define secure CDK construct libraries, enabling our engineering teams to deploy rapidly and safely to a controlled environment. You will be an internal AWS advocate, providing guidance to engineering teams on cloud and security best practices, and teaching them to deploy to AWS using CDK.

Responsibilities

You will design and build our internal network using IaC, connecting our manufacturing sites to our AWS infrastructure, and define our cross-account networking strategy.
You will build tooling using Python, CDK, and Pulumi to provide a reliable, secure, standardized, and auditable AWS environment.

You will engage with internal engineering teams, providing guidance and assistance in securely and effectively utilizing AWS.
You will operate and continuously improve services supporting our internal customers.

Qualifications

Excellent knowledge of AWS, networking, and security best practices.

Programming experience automating AWS infrastructure using Python, CDK, and Pulumi.

Experience supporting high velocity product teams releasing software and infrastructure in the cloud.

Operating in a regulated environment (GxP, HIPAA, SOC2, FedRamp).

Hybrid cloud/edge computing experience including IoT.

Experience with building and owning software tooling to support internal development teams.

Windows and Active Directory knowledge and automation experience or an interest in learning it.
