Why Join Intellia?

Our mission is to develop curative genome editing treatments that can positively transform the lives of people living with severe and life-threatening diseases.

Beyond our science, we live our four core values: One, Explore, Disrupt, Deliver and feel strongly that you can achieve more at Intellia. We have a single-minded determination to excel and succeed together. We believe in the power of curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions. And we know that patients are counting on us to make the promise a reality, so we must maintain high standards and get it done.

We wantall ofour people to go beyond what is possible. We aren’t constrained by typical end rails, and we aren’t out to just “treat” people. We’re all in this for something more. We’re driven to cure and motivated for change. Just imagine the possibilities of what we can do together.

How you will achieve more with Intellia:

As a Senior Scientist in the Delivery Sciences group, you will work across the organization to generate cutting-edge RNA delivery technologies that will harness the power of the CRISPR/Cas9 platform for curing genetic diseases. You will be responsible for the production and characterization of lipid nanoparticles as well as building the assay toolbox to understand the principles behind their delivery mechanism. Other main responsibilities include:

  • Formulation and characterization of LNP and nanoparticle delivery systems

  • Development and execution of cell-based and cell-free assays to understand structure-activity and structure-function of our delivery systems

  • Design and execution of experiments that elucidate the mechanism of LNP delivery to various tissues and cell types

  • Conduct experiments, independently and in collaboration with colleagues in support of project goals

  • Design, implement, troubleshoot, and modify experiments to reach desired goals

  • Communicate research and development findings with internal and external partners

  • Operate and maintain multiple laboratory instruments

About You:

Are you excited about the opportunity to work hands-on with a world-class LNP platform that delivers CRISPR/Cas9? Our ideal candidate will have PhD degree in either bioengineering, materials science, biology, chemical engineering or chemistry and 2+ years post-PhD experience. Other desired skills include:

  • Strong understanding of nanoparticle-mediated delivery (current challenges and barriers to efficacy particularly in vivo) OR direct experience with biochemical and cell biology assays

  • Familiarity with standard nanoparticle characterization techniques (dynamic light scattering, Ribogreen)

  • Troubleshooting of plate-based assays and characterization techniques

  • A broad skill set that enables communication across multiple disciplines (biology, chemistry, materials, physics, etc.)

Meet your future team:

The Delivery Sciences team is a group of bright, collaborative, and driven individuals. We are excited to develop delivery solutions that will impact the lives of patients. You'll report to a Senior Principal Scientist that leads a sub-team in the Delivery Sciences group at the center of all mechanistic delivery work, fostering interdisciplinary cross-collaboration across the broader organization. Our day-to-day work utilizes concepts and techniques from biology (in vivo/in vitro), chemistry, materials science, physics, chemical engineering, and analytical chemistry.

The team is currently working mostly onsite in a wet-lab environment, therefore, we hope you are currently local to Cambridge MA, or open to relocating. While much of the day-to-day operations require wet-lab work, our team is focused on building not just technical expertise but fostering an environment for the growth of scientists interested in a career in therapeutic biotechnology. If you join our team, you can expect to join a fast, fun, exciting, and collaborative environment. We look forward to fostering your skills, learning from your experiences, and building a larger team together.
