US Health Equity Director (East) Rare Disease, Voices for the Heart will be responsible for supporting the strategy and execution Voices for the Heart. The focus will be on v122i hereditary ATTR CM, and executing and expanding reach of the community outreach program, “Voices for the Heart” initiative, which was launched in 2021 to raise awareness of hereditary ATTR-CM in the Black, African American and Afro-Caribbean communities. Through “Voices for the Heart,” Pfizer is partnering with trusted community organizations in cities and states across the United States to develop educational programming, coordinate local outreach events and disseminate helpful resources. This role requires significant cross-functional collaboration to ensure the successful launch and day-to-day management of the events with the goal of increasing awareness and appropriately increasing the diagnosis rate for hereditary ATTR-CM in these markets, which is a critical growth driver for the business while also aligning to Pfizer’s corporate value of EQUITY.

This role requires commercial experience, a passion forhealth equity and addressing healthcare disparities, and strong communication and project management skills. While this role reports into the VP of Rare Cardiology, day to day engagement will be with the Rare Disease Health Equity Lead. Since Voices for the Heart is a national program, this role will also partner with a counterpart in the west to ensure consistency.

Given the dynamic nature of the business and the “Voices for the Heart” program, the role requires an organized and adaptable colleague who is comfortable with ambiguity and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities for the role include:

  • Overall execution of “Voices for the Heart” program in key cities in the US
  • Partner with the West Health Equity Marketer to create all collateral material for Voices for the Heart
  • Work with multicultural agency partner(s) to identify appropriate community partners in each city/state, including advocacy, civic, faith-based and medical organizations
  • Lead key tactical initiatives for the program, including culturally-relevant community resources and tactics (educational presentations, health fair materials, collateral pieces) that are informed by market research and patient insights
  • Execution of “Voices for the Heart” community presentation, including process to nominate and train HCP speakers in each market, appropriate outreach to community members, collaborating with agency partners to schedule events, and measure impact/reach of each program
  • Identify complementary “surround sound” tactics (e.g. paid media) to help reach target consumers in “Voices for the Heart” market
  • Partner with Pfizer External Communications team and PR/Comms agency to develop communications tactics in support of the program (e.g., local op eds featuring physicians or patient spokesperson)
  • Facilitate periodic check-in calls with customer-facing teams to share learnings and best practices across markets
  • Manage specific program budgets, including agency fees, media, sponsorships, etc.
  • Measure KPIs and optimize program based on results and learnings
  • Work closely with Health Equity Lead to assess and determine market viability and opportunities to expand reach into new markets
  • Coach and day to day management of an associate level marketer to ensure all execution for programs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • ~10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Specialty or rare disease experience preferred
  • Demonstrated success in developing, executing, and measuring complex programs or initiatives
  • Strong team player with ability to gain alignment: Effective listening and communication skills – gathers input from key stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure, to take accountability for business challenges, think strategically and tackle complex problems. Proven track record of operating in a fast-paced, high energy environment.
  • Ability to execute in the face of ambiguity or change
  • Strong business acumen with excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide variety of internal and external audiences, including senior management from external organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendors to make impact
