Job Details

We seek a Staff Accountant that will report to Associate Manager, Accounting. This position will perform Accounting duties primarily within the fixed asset process areas. Responsibilities will include activities within the monthly/quarterly close process, expense and balance sheet account analysis, and financial disclosure support. This position will work with other departments and other members of the Accounting department to gather information necessary to prepare schedules and accurately account for the areas for which they are responsible. They will review the control policies and procedures that pertain to their areas of responsibility and ensure that these internal control policies and procedures are followed.

A typical day might include:
  • Fixed Assets:
  • Daily, approve capital purchase requisitions and field questions from end users related to capital versus expense items.
  • Ensure compliance with the Company’s Fixed Asset Accounting Policy.
  • Weekly, review Fixed Asset additions, tag newly added assets, and retire assets, as needed.
  • Reconcile with Facilities Finance Managers regarding $1B expansion project.
  • Monthly, prepare schedules and analyze reasonableness of changes in fixed asset balances (e.g., PPE Rollforward, Depreciation Fluctuation, PPE Retirements).
  • Assist with the preparation of multiple expense schedules and balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g., Utilities, Lab Supplies, and Real Estate Taxes reconciliations).
  • Work directly with Finance to ensure completeness and accuracy of accruals and reclasses.
  • Perform fluctuation analyses and prepare responses for Management.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with documented financial reporting and other related controls and updating related documents as necessary to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Support internal and external audit with requests, as needed.
  • Provide assistance, where applicable, to other departments within the organization with any specific requests or initiatives.
  • Assist with any other special projects, as needed.

This role is a hybrid work from home role. The team currently goes into the office twice a week.

Has a foundation of accounting knowledge through academics and experience with the ability to apply those principles to “real world” operational processes. Strong analytical and organization skills as well as attention to detail and accuracy are critical in this position. The ideal candidate is able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.

Computer Proficiency: High proficiency with Microsoft applications, specifically Microsoft Excel, required (pivot tables, v-lookup, financial functions, etc.)

  • Oracle GL and Hubble a plus.

Communicates effectively. Demonstrates ability to be a great teammate. Pays attention to detail.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Licenses & Certificates: CPA Preferred
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2-4
