OPPORTUNITY
Mammoth is seeking a Scientist I, in R&D Diagnostics to drive the development of lyophilized reagents. The successful candidate will use their experience with analytical chemistry and lyophilization to contribute directly to establishment of novel CRISPR-based in vitro diagnostic assays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Determine and optimize excipient mixtures to adequately protect reagents during lyophilization
  • Execute development, verification and stability studies to define a lyophilization cycle
  • Maintain and operate the analytical chemistry instrumentation (Karl Fisher Coulometer, freeze dry microscope, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS)) to measure properties of lyophilized reagents
  • Maintain the lyophilization team’s lyophilizers to yield product for development and design transfer studies
  • Execute experiments with assay development to determine the efficacy of lyophilized assay reagents during accelerated and real-time stability studies

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry or associated field
  • Master's with 3 years’ experience, Ph.D., or 5 years of industry experience designing lyophilization cycles
  • Experience using Karl Fisher coulometer, freeze dry microscope, DSC and DLS to assess the efficacy and stability of lyophilized reagents
  • Experience using the scientific method for lyophilization cycle design using the analytical techniques listed above
  • Experience with writing SOPs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience or background with in vitro diagnostic assays
  • Experience with genomics and molecular biology techniques and applications 
  • Proficiency in communication, presentation, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to think creatively towards efficient problem solving
