Job Details

This Payroll Tax Specialist will be responsible for processing and ensuring Tax transactions for US and Puerto Rico Payroll as assigned. Monitor, manage and reconcile payroll taxes at the employer and employee level. Includes reconciliation to the general ledger as well as ADP Tax Service reports, preparation, and ensuring compliance. Provides administrative and technical support for all payroll tax activities to ensure the timely and accurate remittance and reporting of federal, state, and local taxes in accordance with governmental regulations.

  • Ensures the reconciliation of bi-weekly files are created to issue direct deposits, checks and wire transfers associated with payroll
  • Coordination with Human Resources department to capture and process payroll updates and respond to questions from consultants in HR on payroll programs.
  • Liaison to other departments regarding the payroll functions and as a point of contact to respond to payroll Tax questions
  • Learns current legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll
  • Processing Multi-State Taxation payroll accurately and respond to tax related enquires effectively
  • Creation of reports, reviewing employee changes in systems preferably Workday
  • Responsible for working with vendor on compliance filings including unemployment monthly and quarterly, federal and state tax returns, quarterly 941’s and W-2’s and process amendments for state and local agencies
  • Will also assist with various payroll tax duties, audits and tasks as required to ensure compliance with respective tax authority requirements.
  • Reconcile payroll tax accounts for withholding, unemployment and other tax types as required by law.
  • Research tax notices from state and local agencies to resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to navigate and research tax questions via an HCM and Payroll system, preferably Workday. Create and work with peers to improve processes and procedures
  • May compile payroll data; enter data into payroll system; review payments computed and correct errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
  • Work on special projects and other duties, as assigned and serve as a back up to other team members.
  • Some travel may be required.

  • 5-7 years of Payroll Tax, and/or Finance / Accounting experience within Payroll Operations
  • Strong accounting skills and detail oriented
  •  Highly proficient within Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (English)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, as well as to get results through collaboration and coordination with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Collaborative approach with subject matter experts to resolve more complex issues.

Preferred

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Workday and/or ADP experience
