Amgen is searching for a highly motivated Sr Associate to support the Global Supply Chain organization. This role will be responsible for financial planning processes such as the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and long-range planning. In addition to planning processes, responsibilities will include supporting the quarter-end close processes, variance analysis, generating business insights/improvement opportunities and strategic initiatives support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead financial planning processes such as the Long Range Plan, Annual Budgets and Quarterly Latest Estimates for headcount, capital, and operating expenses.
  • Prepare, analyze and present operating expense plans, results and variances for department managers and organizational leaders.
  • Prepare standard and ad hoc expense analyses including headcount related costs and outside expenses.
  • Support strategic initiatives with high-level executive visibility (e.g., Operations Data Strategy) by actively participating in meetings, providing sound financial guidance and adequate change management support.
  • Provide thought leadership while developing strong partnerships with other Finance staff members / cross-functional teams to drive process consistencies and efficiencies.
  • Participate in the monthly closing activities.
  • Analyze financial data with a focus on identifying strategic insights and present results to senior management in a professional, clear and concise manner.
  • Take initiative and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Effectively manage competing priorities and goals.
  • Support different time zones locations, as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Masters degree AND 2 years of Finance experience

OR

Bachelors degree AND 4 years of Finance experience

OR

Associates degree AND 10 years of Finance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED AND 12 years of Finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 + years of corporate level experience with 2 + years of progressive finance / accounting experience
  • Relevant functional financial planning experience
  • Knowledge of key finance systems (such as SAP, MS Office, Hyperion planning and reporting systems)
  • Excellent Excel / PowerPoint skills
  • Detail oriented; strong business analytical skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills including familiarity with finance and accounting terms
  • Proven ability to work effectively in in ambiguous situations and team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under time constraints
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to influence personnel across functions and levels
  • Ability to think strategically
  • MBA and/or CPA
