Scientist (Tarrytown, NY)

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is seeking a Scientist (Tarrytown, NY) to provide analytical protein characterization through the use of cutting-edge biophysical technologies in the Protein Biochemistry group. Provide in-depth biophysical and biochemical characterization of therapeutic proteins to support mid-late stage development programs. Independently design and conduct protein biophysical and biochemical experiments. Develop new biophysical assays to assess macromolecular interactions and stoichiometry of macromolecular complexes using multi-signal analysis SV-AUC methodology. Analyze data to elucidate quality attributes of therapeutic protein candidates and/or products. Provide biophysical support for both upstream and downstream functional groups. Help solve development problems in real-time. Take a leading role in late stage development efforts to characterize size/charge variants, protein-ligand complexes, and high concentration protein solutions of therapeutic protein drug candidates. Develop analytical methods to assess physiochemical properties of gene therapy products and viral vectors (AAVs). Document experiments, results and findings in laboratory notebook.  Present work at group department meetings. Contribute to drafting of analytical characterization reports, regulatory submission sections, and peer-reviewed articles for publication. Serve as a team representative in drug candidate-specific development team meetings and share knowledge and expertise of biophysical chemistry at cross-function team meetings. Provide assistance to Research Associates conducting research and developmental work. Participate in the general lab and instrument maintenance.

Job Requirements:

Requires a PhD in Chemistry, Molecular Biophysics, Biochemistry, or a related field and 5 years of experience in analytical protein characterization or the biopharmaceutical industry. Must have the following experience: Applying a variety of biophysical techniques to study one or more of the following: protein-ligand complex formation, protein aggregation pathways, and/or analytical characterization of viral vectors (or related gene therapy products); Light scattering (static) and spectroscopic (e.g. DSF, CD) techniques, principles and applications for analysis of proteins and/or protein complexes; Performing and trouble-shooting size-based (e.g. SEC and AUC), affinity-based, and charge-based (e.g. IEX) separation techniques; Performing and trouble-shooting analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) and/or field flow fractionation assays; Protein folding, structure, kinetics and thermodynamics; and A variety of computer software for acquiring and analyzing light scattering, spectroscopic, and chromatographic data (e.g. ASTRA).
