The Commercial Insights Senior Manager, Solid Tumors will work directly with early oncology pipeline teams supporting multiple products and assets across Amgens Oncology Business Unit (OBU).

This individual will lead insight generation activities by integrating primary market research (qualitative and quantitative) with secondary data analytics and other creative approaches as necessary. The role reports to the Director for Commercial Insights, Solid Tumors.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Leverages deep scientific or biopharma understanding to define relevant business problems and address through data and analytics approaches/projects

  • Identifies key business questions that need to be addressed to meet changing business needs

  • Consistently engage in thought leadership to craft commercial strategy

  • Influences leadership to incorporate key findings, insights and intelligence into program strategy

  • Prioritize research resources to impact critical business issues and decisions

  • Turn unstructured business issues/requests into appropriate action plans and projects that result in high quality, meaningful and impactful deliverables

  • Plan, design and conduct key strategic and highly sophisticated market research programs and translate the findings into strategic and tactical recommendations that help drive brand success

  • Synthesize and integrate various data, research and analyses into impactful insights

  • Ensuring that analyses and summaries of results are shared in the form of compelling stories that deepen customer understanding

  • Stays current with data and analytics techniques and capabilities; and lead implementation of new methodologies and best practices

  • Consider alternative methodologies to collect the voice of customer, being open to emerging innovative methods without immediately jumping to standard methods

  • Develop and nurture positive relationships with the oncology cross-functional marketing team to appropriately define the business problems/business questions

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with best-in-class insights vendors

  • Ensure that both routine and ad-hoc projects are in compliance with all Amgen SOPs and meet service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Or

Masters degree and 4 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Or

Bachelors degree and 6 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Or

Associates degree and 10 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of market research and/or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in oncology via prior project work, disease area knowledge, marketing/sales experience, etc.

  • Strong understanding of the latest developments and trends in the oncology space, key competitive dynamics and unmet medical needs

  • Experience in insights generation for the biopharmaceutical (or other healthcare) industries

  • Prior experience in strategy/management consulting in the biopharma industry preferably through a lead role

  • Demonstrated track record of thinking strategically, analyzing data to support key business decisions through thoughtful insights and recommendations

  • Ability to work collaboratively in team-based environment

  • Understanding of at least one key insights function - market research, forecasting, and/or analytics
