We are currently searching for a Laboratory Manager to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH).  In addition to interactions with my NIMH Admin team contractor will  manage orders, recruitments, and travel requests.This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.  

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with management of after-hours emergencies eg equipment failure
  • Manage chemical biological waste procedures local processes
  • Prepare and manage animal ethics applications and establish local processes to ensure adherence to approved project requirements
  • Create Manage electronic databases animal tissues, antibodies, reagents etc.
  • Manage laboratory equipment eg servicing and maintenance, development of training protocols
  • Develop laboratory safety protocols, manage training and related records
  • Prepare and manage animal ethics applications and establish local processes to ensure adherence to approved project requirements
  • Ensure adequate supply of laboratory reagents
  • Organize and store all chemicals and laboratory reagents according to safety requirements
  • Maintain animal records database, perform mouse genotyping and recording
  • Organize lab meetings seminars
  • Assist in training of new staff and students
  • Assist in establishing new laboratory protocols
  • Assist others in the team as required to optimize the Units research effort
  • Develop protocols for lab equipment and new techniques
  • Create/ Manage electronic databases (animal tissues, antibodies, reagents etc.)
  • Manage laboratory equipment (e.g., servicing and maintenance, development of training protocol)
  • Develop laboratory safety protocols and training
  • Preparation and management of animal ethics applications
  • Ensure adequate supply of laboratory/ surgical stocks
  • Waste chemical and biosafety management (local processes)
  • Organize animal records/ database
  • Assist with management of after-hours emergencies (e.g., equipment failure)
  • Development of new protocols to support Section’s mission
  • Assist in training of new staff and students
  • Organize Section meetings/seminars and external guests
