SENIOR MANAGER, TALENT AND ORGANIZATION EFFECTIVENESS (TOE) (Remote)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Global Blood Therapeutics, Inc. (GBT) is seeking an action-oriented and passionate team member to help drive, deliver, and enhance various Talent Management programs and initiatives in support of our long-term global talent and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) strategy. The Senior Manager will execute talent processes, initiatives, and communications related to:

  • Talent Planning
  • Performance Management
  • Employee Experience and Culture programs
  • On-Boarding
  • Targeted Talent Management solutions to advance and activate DEIB
  • Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

This role will have an emphasis on supporting behavior change through evolving how these are delivered across a global company. As a member of the Human Resources department, this role is a critical contributor to the GBT Talent Strategy. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work seamlessly within our TOE team and with our HR Business Partners (HRBPs), Total Rewards and HR Operations, and Talent Acquisition stakeholders to ensure our teams are supported and that all talent management efforts are informed by the needs of the business
  • In partnership with an external communication agency, this position will be responsible for the creation of and updates for HR-related communications and branded materials in partnership with our internal communications team
  • Operationalize enhancements to the on-boarding program to include an implementation of on-boarding technology in collaboration with TOE, HR Operations and Talent Acquisition
  • Prepare materials for the business and HRBPs, align assets and training for participants and deploy them for performance reviews, goal setting, talent reviews, succession & development planning
  • Partner with HR Ops to help drive an Annual Operating Planning process that is used as the foundation for all talent decisions in the coming year. This also includes managing on-going talent development programs within the organization while refining as needed through consulting with the business and HRBPs
  • Execute our strategy and action plans to embed global leadership development across the organization. Partner with TOE Associate Director and HRBPs for a global review of talent ensuring organizational bench health and succession planning
  • Partner with TOE team and HRBPs to address desires for growth and development of employees through implementation of career pathways to strengthen our commitment to internal employee development. This includes leveraging our HRIS to ensure a consistent global competency framework, build capability, upskill, reskill and reinvent talent, while addressing identified talent gaps and skills required for the future
  • Assist the TOE team in driving a robust employee engagement and experience agenda that supports an effective hybrid and global workplace
  • This role will work closely with the Associate Director of TOE to help define priorities, goals and measures of success of GBT’s DEIB strategy. This includes contributing perspective, insights and knowledge, and taking a balanced and systematic approach to enable the organization to achieve measurable results
  • Manage relationships with external vendors that advance the capabilities and effectiveness of talent management objectives and initiatives
  • Manage fiscal aspects of talent management including making recommendations to the business on the most effective use of the vendor / training spend
  • Provide operational and performance metrics of programs and services, monitoring and communicating the impact of offerings on key metrics
  • Benchmark talent management approaches while evaluating viability for implementation/ modification with your internal network at GBT and external sources

Qualifications: 

  • BA/BS required
  • 6+ years of professional experience in HR Program Management or general Talent Management or Learning and Development, or a combination of these areas
  • Strong training development and communication skills
  • Well-versed in adult learning methodologies and vendor management
  • Experience with the training assignment process and learning management systems, with the ability to identify areas of improvement
  • Possesses a natural curiosity for innovative, people-focused strategies that drive targeted and high-impact results
  • Possesses strong facilitation and presentation skills; with an ability to negotiate, influence and persuade
  • Ability to work with leaders and teams with technical backgrounds to enhance people-focused organizational change management, communications, learning, and talent programs to drive business results
  • Understands an agile mindset and has experience working on teams using agile methodologies
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and rapidly changing requirements
  • Is an enthusiastic team player and self-starter with a serious commitment to drive complex work with excellence

  • You have the cultural and social competency to establish strong relationships with teams and individuals working remotely, across time zones and continents
  • Works with the business to support change management, communications, learning, and talent strategies for multiple initiatives
  • Lead implementation of new learning solutions with limited oversight
