This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois. Remote work from certain states may be permitted in accordance with Astellas' Responsible Flexibility Guidelines. Candidates interested in remote work are encouraged to apply.
Purpose and Scope:
Responsible for epidemiology activities and support in different therapeutic areas. Identifies the epidemiological needs of projects, develops and implements plans from pre through post marketing phases. Responsible for developing and implementing PE methodology to issues of drug safety and risk management.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Plans, monitors, and analyzes PE studies associated with products in development and those already on the market in collaboration with other key project stakeholders.
Provides PE data to Pharmacovigilance and Clinical Teams to support analyses and interpretation of safety data gathered from internal and external sources.
Collaborates with Risk Management to develop and manage product specific pre- and post-approval risk management strategies.
Assists project teams in the planning of clinical trials utilizing epidemiologic expertise in studies concerning specific population or disease characteristics.
Quantitative Dimensions:
Supports the effectiveness of Astellas sponsored clinical trials and post-marketing studies managed with centrally or by an affiliate.
Organizational Context:
Reports directly to the Executive Director, Epidemiology/Signals.
Interacts with peers and Team Leads in other GSS and GPV functions.
Operates within the GD and GMD matrix environment and global landscape.
Works with cross functional product teams.
Qualifications:
Required
MPH or PhD in Epidemiology, Health Services Research, or related field.
At least 5 years of pharmaceutical experience.
Ability to work in team and matrix environment.
Global mindset, analytical skills, and flexibility are essential for this position.
Experience in working with linked databases.
Track record of applying creative and strategic perspective to problem solving.

Work experience in a global environment.
