Job Details
Purpose:
Under the direction of the EHS manager, provide guidance on EHS matters to employees and contractors. Exercise communication, training, and consultation skills to successfully implement programs, policies, and positive safety culture. Responsible for the development, implementation, support and maintenance of specific environment, health, and safety (EHS) programs as assigned to ensure regulatory compliance and conformance with the company’s EHS Management System. Ability to assist in developing, and redlining existing, safety standards and/or policies which meet business objectives.
Responsibilities:
• Assists in the development and implementation of strategic programs, plans, policies and procedures to protect all plant personnel, facilities and the environment.
• Interprets and communicates programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 45001, 14001, and 50001 management systems in an audit setting.
• Injury investigations to determine root cause and analysis and reporting of leading and lagging safety performance indicators to drive corrective actions.
• Implement EHS programs and initiatives including, but not limited to: Hazard identification/risk assessment; High hazard control (Lockout Tagout, confined space, work permits, overhead hoists, electrical safety, & fall protection); Powered industrial trucks; Machine guarding; Ergonomic job safety analysis; Contractor/construction EHS management; Industrial hygiene; Hazard communication; Chemical safety; Emergency preparedness and response
• Capacity to support occupational hygiene quantitative exposure sampling with a distinct focus on report generation.
• Means to support site sustainability initiatives
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree (Occupational Safety, Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Health, General Engineering, Chemistry or other related field of study) plus minimum 3 years of EHS related experience or Associate Degree and Advanced Safety Specialist Certification plus minimum 5 years of EHS related experience.
• Working experience in implementing EHS regulations, conducting incident investigations, interacting with regulatory agencies and external organizations and managing cross functional teams.
• Potential to establish measurable project goals and implementation plans, balance conflicting work demands, and develop action plans
• Ability to actively listen, build and maintain effective working relationships with internal/ external colleagues and stakeholders, and resolve conflict.
• Capacity to successfully manage project and programs.
• Means to plan, organize, delegate, and follow-up on workflow in a team environment to meet departmental goals and objectives.
• Well organized and have excellent attention to detail and thoroughness.
