JOB SUMMARY:   

We seek a self-motivated, multi-tasking, detail-oriented executive assistant to support Sangamo’s General Counsel, Chief People Officer and the Board of Directors. The position requires you to communicate effectively across multiple levels within the organization, the Board of Directors and outside of Sangamo. You must be able to represent Sangamo at the highest level and in the most thoughtful manner. The ideal candidate should be a great problem solver, able to think ahead, consistently deliver on their commitments, respect confidentiality, and work independently with minimal supervision. We are looking for someone who wants to take initiative, someone who can quickly and efficiently problem solve, someone who wants to learn and grow, and someone who embraces our core values.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Complete a broad variety of administrative tasks for both the General Counsel and Chief People Officer, including managing an extremely active calendar, composing and preparing correspondence that is sometimes confidential, arranging detailed travel itineraries and agendas, and completing and reconciling expense reports
  • Support other senior team members on the Legal and Human Resources teams as appropriate (meeting coordination, travel support, calendar, etc.)
  • Assist in administering the contract and document management systems and patent docketing system
  • Ensure an efficient and effective legal and contract workflow (e.g., online request/approvals, publication review)
  • Train employees on new legal processes and policies
  • Provide support with Board of Directors communications and calendaring; act as a liaison to Board and Board Committee members
  • Assist in planning and coordinating Company-sponsored employee engagement events
  • Partner with other Executive Asst team members to ensure consistent processes


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years’ experience supporting C-Level Executives
  • Previous experience supporting General Counsel and/or legal function is required, experience also supporting Chief People Officer is a plus
  • Experience with public company management and reporting obligations
  • BA/BS Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and partners well, develops and establishes positive relationships across the organization
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and judgment to prioritize various competing demands
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong ability to use technology, specific expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and similar products and experience with BoardBookIt or similar Board management software, along with administrative systems such as Expense Wire, Outlook, and Zoom.
