Director, Translational Medicine

General Scope and Summary

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for an important role in the Translational Medicine group. This person will contribute to the design, execution, and interpretation of experimental medicine studies in areas relevant to our portfolio. They will also contribute to program teams, providing guidance in biomarker strategies and development, as well as be part of the Translational Research Alignment team, providing preclinical-clinical biomarker oversight.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Will be a member of the relevant program teams, providing guidance on translational medicine aspects.

• Responsible for drafting translational medicine plans in coordination with the Translational Science lead in pre-CN programs.

• Lead the design and execution of human studies to explore and validate novel biomarkers for the relevant indications.

• Participate in the Translational Research Alignment team.

• Interact with all relevant internal stakeholders in the pursuit of translational medicine studies.

• Develop and maintain a network of external collaborators to help with the studies.

Experience, Education and Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, and the ability to identify issues and raise to key stakeholders in order to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs, and recommendations.

Basic Qualifications

• MD, MD-PHD, or PHD.

• 3-5 years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

Preferred Qualifications

• For MDs, research experience is preferred.

• For PhDs, experience with clinical studies is preferred.

• Experience working with all levels of management and consulting with key business stakeholders. An ability to influence for greater outcomes.

• Strong team player that has a customer service approach and is solution-oriented.

• Attention to detail and the ability to work individually, within a multi-disciplinary team, as well as with external partners and vendors.

• Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills.
