POSITION SUMMARY
The Automation Engineer will provide support for the Operation and Maintenance of the various Building Automation, Monitoring, and Process sytems used on the Groton Campus. They will also assist with various projects related to the automation systems and will work with various vendors to ensure regulatory compliance and user requirements are successfully met.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform system diagnostics of automation systems as necessary
Provide support and troubleshooting on a wide range of Process, Facilities and Utilities automation systems
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of automation equipment
Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical research laboratory and vivarium operation.
Participate in new processes to improve efficiency and cost savings
Participate in continuous improvement program to maintain instrument support within a given budget
Learn to recognize problems and inefficiencies in processes and methods, then proposes and implements improvements
Participate in the installation, configuration and operation of automation hardware and software. This will include interacting with Digital and other groups as necessary

Establish and manage service contracts with the vendors.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of applied engineering experience.
Associates degree in technical field with 5 years of experience Automation Control Systems
Industrial Automation Certification and/or 5 Years experience
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Ability to oversee multiple activities at one time.
Ability to define problems, determines root cause analysis, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
Experience with TCP/IP network configuration/topologies and knowledge of Network and Server Design concepts for Automation systems.
Knowledge of instrumentation, mechanical and electrical systems
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels from director to craftsmen.
Ability to read drawings and create engineered reports and procedures.
Technical writing ability.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Technical Service
Practical experience and/or knowledge of general maintenance trades.
Knowledge of instrumentation, mechanical and electrical systems and maintenance practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels from director to craftsmen.
Ability to read drawings and create engineered reports and procedures.
Technical writing ability.
