Job Details

Expect more from your next project management role.

There are two kinds of project managers in this world: There are those who excel at checking the boxes and hitting milestones. For them, the roadmap was designed and perfected by someone else, so their responsibility is making sure things happen on time and to spec.

But there are those select few who see the role as a way to influence people and projects beyond the checklist. They aren’t passive documenters of the details, but the force in the room moving others to do their best possible work. When you’re inventing the future of drug-discovery, project management is all about solving problems and getting others to push beyond their own limits.

Recursion is a clinical-stage biotechnology company decoding biology by integrating technological innovations across biology, chemistry, automation, data science and engineering to radically improve the lives of patients and industrialize drug discovery. Our team is working to solve some of the hardest, most meaningful problems facing human health today.

You’ll be joining Recursion at an interesting time, both for the company and for the world. The global pandemic has reinforced in everyone’s mind not only the importance of therapeutics, but also the critical value that accelerating every phase of drug discovery can provide. For most, the notion that “patients can’t wait” is abstract; COVID-19 has made this concept all too real for millions, even billions, worldwide. As a project manager at Recursion, you’ll directly accelerate the timeline of getting treatments into the hands of patients.

Everyday you’ll face a challenge you’ve literally never seen before. But you’ll be surrounded by humble experts who will happily drop everything to support you, get exposure to a wide range of ideas and approaches, and be asked to think beyond the three primary constraints in order to solve those challenges.

If you designed a company and a role where you were able to do the best work of your career, it would probably look a lot like Recursion.

The Impact You’ll Make

  • Problem Solving Partner with teams to proactively identify and highlight risks and issues with the projects; work with the teams to devise and implement
  • Develop contingency plans to drive timely resolution of issues. Project a calm, positive attitude and convey confidence without over-promising expectations.
  • Critical thinking to evaluate at the granular level but still maintain the “big picture” focus on the overall partnership portfolio. Monitor project deliverables and ensure alignment with the company’s long and short-term objectives.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day collaboration with scientific team leads, Alliance Management and cross-functional project teams to establish detailed project plans and ensure a common understanding of project timelines, milestones, and deliverables across the project teams and key stakeholders. Drive cross-functional teams to deliver on the detailed plans within budget, scope, time and with quality.
  • Create solutions and build strong relationships across the company, we are One Recursion.
  • Translate business needs into projects and continuous process improvements.
  • Communicate expectations clearly and lead by example in a fast pace and fun environment. Working closely with scientific team leads to delegate tasks according to each member’s experience, skill set and offer guidance and support on complicated projects.

In your role, you will collaborate cross-functionally within the Partnership Team and engage with colleagues across the company, vendors, and partners to ensure successful execution of our partnership goals.
