As the Office Manager, you will be reporting to the Director of Business Operations, supporting the business operations of Element’s flagship facility in San Diego and beyond.   You will support Element’s growth by ensuring that the offices and infrastructure are fully operational and properly maintained to deliver best-in-class workplace environments and experiences, all while handling a variety of other responsibilities at a rapidly growing company.


  • Communicate with senior leadership and external partners
  • Maintain office supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies
  • Maintain general offices and breakrooms
  • Enhance office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layout, and equipment procurement
  • Coordinate with security/receptionist service providers
  • Coordinate mail delivery
  • Assist in managing San Diego site communications via the Business Operations/Facilities Intranet site
  • Coordinate with building vendors to insure uninterrupted services (plant maintenance, coffee/snack services, pest control, etc.)
  • Prepare annual budgets, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions to achieve financial objectives
  • Create and update records and databases with personnel, financial and other data 
  • Effectively interface with employees and internal and/or external Senior Executives and recognizes key stakeholders within all organizations
  • Maintain organizational seating chart
  • Work with People team to liaise with business leaders and key stakeholders to ensure we are up to speed with new people team initiatives and new hire on-boarding (weekly onboarding, badge access programming and distribution, office tours, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Operations, Lab management, and EH&S to support operations
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • 3+ years of professional work experience, ideally in a start-up or scale-up environment, in a similar role
  • Biotech or start up fast-paced environment is preferred
  • A self-starter, someone who is motivated, coachable, and eager to meet and exceed expectations
  • Impeccable organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and schedules as well as manage timelines
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with NetSuite and Concur is a plus
