Summary of Position:

We are seeking a lab manager to support our R&D activities. As the Lab Manager in our Menlo Park headquarters you will be responsible for the overall daily operations in our laboratories including vendor management, lab supply inventory, security protocols & standards, equipment maintenance requirements, and new equipment orders. You will also be required to train lab technicians and assistants on the correct use of equipment and mentor lab staff. And ensure that employees follow industry standards and safety regulations for the handling and disposal of test samples. In your position you will maintain a schedule that tracks lab equipment used and time for staff members, and they are responsible for purchasing lab supplies or preparing an ordering list. Lastly you will manage and maintain all security documents and ensure all information and data collected in the lab is kept safe.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and oversee the laboratory's quality management program.
  • Implement policies and procedures
  • Coordinate on-site training for new and existing staff members.
  • Oversee vendors
  • Ensure communication of laboratory data and appropriate result reporting.
  • Release samples to laboratory personnel and communicate due dates and update turnaround times.
  • Maintain laboratory workspace, including equipment, lab policies and safety guidelines which includes ensuring compliance with federal, state, and system regulations to provide a safe operation.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate policy procedures in the laboratory.
  • Establish and maintain all laboratory records in accordance with specifications.
  • Ensure supplies are available as required for lab sessions.
  • Recommend measures to improve testing procedures, use of equipment, and needs for new equipment.
  • Monitor, analyze and justify expense and revenue within departments.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering related discipline
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in operational leadership in R&D and GMP/GLP laboratory, biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment.
  • 1+ years of proven success guiding teams for lab operations staff and vendors.
  • Proven track record in managing and scaling lab operations.
  • Understand laboratory supply streams, waste streams, and have experience working in an R&D and GMP and GLP laboratory environment.
