Summary of Position:

You will be responsible for development and optimization of formulation for lipid nanoparticle / RNA-based product candidates for preclinical and clinical development. In this role, the candidate will work with a cross-functional product development team including process development and analytical development teams to develop robust formulations with a good safety profile and high potency in vitro and in vivo.  The Scientist will have the opportunity to work as an integral part of a talented, diverse team of scientists, and develop career in the exciting field of RNA therapeutics. The ideal candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic, and show a passion for LNP-RNA formulation development.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute science-based formulation design and optimization experiments to identify novel robust formulations to support drug product development.
  • Execute rational formulation selection and characterization studies relevant to the stage of development.  Studies include, but are not limited to, composition screening, stability, biophysical characterization, etc.
  • Partner closely with colleagues conducting in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate the effect of each formulation component on potency and safety.
  • Summarize results, prepare development reports, and present data to the drug product development team. 
  • Provide formulations expertise and insights to various interdisciplinary teams.
  • Perform formulation transfer to process development teams and support troubleshooting on a need basis.
  • Supports process development studies to determine and characterize process parameters associated with preparation LNP-RNA drug products.
  • Execute in-use compatibility and stability studies to support administration in a clinical setting.
  • Perform her/his duties consistent with good laboratory practices.


Qualifications:

  • Minimally a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical engineering, or a related discipline with at least one year of successful laboratory experience in lipid nanoparticles or other lipid-based drug delivery systems.  Comparatively, a candidate possessing an MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical engineering, or a related discipline with 6+ years of directly relevant experience will be considered.
  • Strong foundation in chemistry, nanotechnologies for formulation design, nucleic acid therapeutics, and general pharmaceutical product research is required.
  • Experience with process development of complex mixtures a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfort in a dynamic and fast-paced scientific environment
