Summary of Position:

We are seeking an accomplished, energetic, and detail-oriented biologist to join our R&D team providing leadership as the site head. This position reports into the Head of Research & Development. The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and team-oriented individual that possesses the ability to work across a highly matrixed environment across sites to provide technical and scientific expertise to advance our drug discovery efforts.

The candidate is expected to have a strong background in tissue culture, assay development, in vivo models, and a track record of contributing to multidisciplinary drug discovery teams. You will collaboratively make key contributions to the validation and selection of the next generation of targets using various state-of-the-art scientific approaches. Responsibilities:

• Contribute as a key member of a cross functional drug discovery team with in vivo, tissue culture, bioanalytical, and formulation capabilities.
• Establish and execute functionally integrated project plans to enable accurate project assessments, identification of critical path activities and areas of resource constraint.
• Oversee project management activities, identify and manage project objectives, work plans, timelines, budgets, providing formal and informal status updates to stakeholders as needed.
• Oversee electronic lab notebook and record keeping in compliance with company policies.
• Interface with R&D Senior Management on project requirements, status review, and key development decisions.
• Contribute to preclinical strategy, vision, and operation.

Key competencies for this position include but not limited to: technical expertise, collaboration, communication and inspirational leadership

Qualifications:

• PhD with at least 8+ years of drug discovery experience and a minimum of 2+ years in a group leadership and management role.
• In depth in vivo pharmacology experience with preferred knowledge in pulmonary, CNS, viral and oncology disease disciplines
• Extensive experience drafting detailed experimental plans and managing scientific collaborations
• Excellent communicator with exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication skills;
• Knowledge of the drug discovery process and inter-dependencies of key research functions such as cell culture, assay development, in vivo pharmacology; Enthusiastic mentor and leader with experience managing research scientists
• Hands-on experience with gene correction and RNA based therapeutics including RNA and lipid nano particle delivery systems
• Experience with IVIS, FACS, immunofluorescence, qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot and similar biochemical assays preferred

Position is based in Dallas, role provides relocation for candidates not living in Dallas
