Assistant Director, Thought Leader Engagement

Purpose and Scope:

The Assistant Director, Thought Leader Engagement for XTANDI (enzalutamide), a market leading therapy for advanced prostate cancer patients, will be a key member of the brand team and will contribute to the development and implementation of programs to maximize the brand potential for patients and the connection with customers. This person is responsible for development of thought leader engagement strategy, ad board coordination and synthesis of insights across stakeholder groups. Success will be measured by achieving best in industry customer engagement and impactful, timely synthesis of insights from key customers and internal stakeholders that lead to influence of commercial strategies/tactics supportive of the overall brand plan while working in close collaboration with internal and external partners, including Pfizer Oncology, the sales force, Key Account Management, Medical Affairs, executives, vendors, thought leaders, professional societies, among others.

Specific responsibilities will evolve based on the needs of the brand and franchise, lifecycle of the brand, and competencies required on specific projects

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Build close working partnerships with National and Regional external experts in Prostate Cancer

  • Impactful, timely synthesis of useful and relevant market insights from Thought Leaders and internal customer facing stakeholders (including field sales and Key Account Management and their respective leadership, Medical Affairs, executives, and other cross functional partners) to influence commercial strategies and tactics for the brand team

  • Identify and prioritize Prostate Cancer experts while leading robust strategic engagement planning and tracking (working cross-functionally) in collaboration with co-promote partner

  • Proactively build and continually refine timely, effective processes to ensure Thought Leader/stakeholder insights are integrated in strategic planning and tactical execution

  • Attend and proactively plan Thought Leader engagements at National & Regional Prostate Cancer symposia & Congresses. Lead coordination for commercial engagements with clear strategic objectives

  • Ensure robust process for planning and execution of commercial ad boards to gain actionable insights. Share insights learned with Marketing and other functions to create broad actionable plans

  • Lead management of outside agencies in the following capacities: project estimate development, time management, and execution of project components including content creation, and assuring consistency with Astellas goals, direction, ethics, and guidelines

  • Track and manage detailed budget for responsible tactics

  • Lead and implement other initiatives to support team and overall brand and/or franchise as assigned

  • Efficient use of resources including: management of vendors, negotiation for services both internally and externally, and monitoring of budgets

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10 plus years of related, relevant experience in pharma (marketing, sales, sales training, market research, etc.)

  • Deep oncology therapeutic knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with thought leaders

  • Demonstrated ability to be a high-level contributor or leader of a project, process, or function

  • Demonstrated ability to find creative solutions to problems or new opportunities

  • Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to use analytical skills and critical thinking to diagnosis business issues and incorporate into development or adjustment of marketing plans

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • Demonstrates ability to lead and influence peers and stakeholders within and outside the organization

  • Deep Oncology and/or Urology therapeutic experience, including experience in prostate cancer

  • Ability to travel 50% or more if needed

Preferred

  • MBA or other related graduate level degree

  • Pharmaceutical sales experience

  • Experience in thought leader management and Thought Leader relationships in prostate cancer

  • Experience working in a partnership/co-promotion
