Strategic Planning & Operations Manager - Finance


What you will do

Lets do this. Lets change the world. In this pivotal role, you will develop the yearly budgets collaborating with company staff, outsourced suppliers, purchase order and invoice management, and manage the financial reports required for governance. Responsibilities include

  • Developing the budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and reporting for the outsourced contracts
  • Disseminating costs information to the various Amgen Operational and Finance
  • Manage scope changes for the outsourced contracts including contract updates
  • Generate and communicate monthly financial information to internal clients
  • Prepare and support complex modeling of contracts
  • Interact with a wide range of leadership and site staff
  • Assist in the annual audit process
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed
  • Travel requirements (less than 5%)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree OR
  • Masters degree and 2 years of finance and project management experience OR
  • Bachelors degree and 4 years of finance and project management experience OR
  • Associates degree and 10 years of finance and project management experience OR
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of finance and project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Finance or related field
  • Demonstrated ability in contracts, finance, accounting, project management, and organizational change
  • Knowledge and understanding of internal control framework, contracts, finance, and auditing
  • Facilities and operations experience in the Pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, practical recommendations through organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Must have high attention to detail and be able to deliver high quality and accurate outputs
  • Self-starter with an excellent contract, project management, and financial skills
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) in a team-oriented environment, including the ability to effectively and confidentially interact with Amgen senior management
  • Conceptual problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem-solving approach, and lead implementation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint
