Position Summary

This role will be responsible for designing, performing, analyzing, and documenting experiments to support genome engineering research within Resilience R&D. They will work closely to assist scientists & engineers to develop and test new experimental hypotheses and technical workflows. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully developing molecular biology tools with experimental biologists and bioinformaticians.

Job Responsibilities

  • Independently design and execute CRISPR and other genome engineering experiments.

  • Working with scientists and engineers, design knock-outs, knock-ins, and screening approaches to understand cell biology.

  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and methods in the fields of gene editing and genome engineering (i.e. Base editing, Prime editing)

  • Prepare slides and present scientific topics and experimental results to internal teams

  • Develop, implement, and improve protocols and procedures based on experimental data and optimizations.

  • Analyze and document experimental data in electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the company quality management system.

  • Assist with organizing and streamlining work activities, including laboratory inventory, restocking, ordering, and instrument calibration.

  • Participate in daily Agile stand-ups and weekly sprints with other members of the research team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors (BS) with 6+ years, or Masters (MS) with 4+ years in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or molecular/cellular biology or related field.

  • Experience in working in an analytical development / process analytics setting.

  • Familiar with strict adherence to established SOP’s.

  • Strong desire to learn multiple techniques and willingness to provide support as required.

  • Significant attention to detail and accuracy in following protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to be highly productive in a fluid, fast-paced and teamwork environment.

  • Applying scientific principles and concepts to potential innovative platforms and disruptive technologies.

  • Strong cell culture skills with fundamental understanding of viral production biology.

  • Experience with experimental design, data analysis and organization.

  • The candidate should be a self-starter and team player who can balance the needs of an entrepreneurial environment with the requirements of a GMP environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with CRISPR systems, experimental protocols, and genotyping analysis methods

  • Ability to use single cell phenotyping (e.g. flow cytometry / FACS-based analysis)

  • Hands-on lab knowledge and experience with current and next-generation genome engineering and sequencing technologies

  • Knowledge of and experience with molecular biology and/or synthetic biology experimental approaches

  • Working knowledge of current and next-generation automation systems, bioinformatics, and machine learning as related to biology

  • Demonstrated experience with platform development across multiple operating environments: bleeding edge R&D, process development, and regulated biomanufacturing facilities

  • Demonstrated ability to understand, successfully integrate, and apply scientific and intellectual property literature, research data and technical input to meet program goals

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with colleagues & partners across a range of technical backgrounds, expertise, and geographic location
