Hospital, Novel Anti-Infectives Commercial Development Director

ROLE SUMMARY

The novel AI pipeline is at an exciting stage and is expanding rapidly. It has anti-bacterial assets both in pre-POC and one asset in PIII development: ATM-AVI (a breakthrough for the targeted treatment of patients with Gram-negative bacterial infections), CTB-AVP (a breakthrough oral agents to treat ESBL-producing and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae), SPR206 (a breakthrough licensed asset that is being developed to address serious Gram-negative bacterial infections). Our lead anti-fungal asset, Fosmanogepix acquired from Amplyx is in PII development for the treatment of invasive fungal infections. In addition, we are expanding into the anti-viral space building on our internally developed Paxlovid Franchise and respiratory anti-viral assets acquired through BD.

The Commercial Development Director will be responsible for one of the three anti-infectives segments; anti-bacterial, anti-fungal or anti-viral. Within its segment the role is responsible for maximization of global value of the anti-infective assets in the portfolio and potentially other new novel molecules. The Director will be directly responsible for defining the commercial strategy for the pipeline asset/assets, and the initial focus will be to lead and deliver the commercial preparation for the DP3 decisions. The key responsibilities will include product, market development and go to market strategy and post DP3 launch preparedness with key collaboration from R&D, PH&I, Regulatory, PGS and global, regional & country marketing stakeholders. The partnership with global marketing and commercial regions is core to enable an effective handover of the asset to global marketing prior to launch. The role reports to the Senior Director Hospital, Novel Anti-Infectives, Search & Development Lead.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the development pipeline of either anti-bacterial (AB), anti-fungal (AF) or anti-viral (AV) assets in development and other novel/differentiated assets transferred from ESD or pursued through BD.

  • Commercial lead for the global medicine team (GMT), providing strategic commercial input and leading a commercial sub-team to the GMT.

  • Interacts with and influences a broad range of functions involved with the development and commercialization of the pipeline; including R&D, medical, clinical, regulatory, business assessments, global/regional commercial, PH&I, BAI, finance, and legal functions to ensure that DP3 & launch plans are coordinated and supported

  • Develop and execute the commercial development plan & forecasts to inform the key DP3 decision to initiate pivotal trials.

  • Represents the “Voice of the Customer”; monitors overall AI landscape of expertise and trends to provides commercial insights, assessments, and strategic guidance as part of the GMT

  • Serves as the commercial lead for all regions and provide guidance for shaping global and regional priorities to ensure successful launch planning. Works closely with regions to ensure alignment with forecasts/P&Ls during development phase

  • Works with global marketing team and regions to ensure timely and seamless transition pre-launch

  • Supports/leads key commercial development projects for the specific are of expertise; AB, AF or AV

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of broad pharmaceutical experience (marketing, strategy, business development, new product launch, portfolio strategy, commercial development)

  • Experience in anti-infectives brand marketing and/or product development

  • Proven leadership and demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration in a matrixed organization

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including presenting opportunities/plans

  • Hands-on experience leading forecasting, P&Ls, business case generation etc.

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong financial and analytical skills including P&L understanding and valuation metrics

  • Experience interfacing/collaborating with Research, Development, Regulatory etc.

  • Highly collaborative; ability to work well with teams

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop, and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
