We are currently searching for a Scientist, Analytical Development, to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC, and it is on-site in Gaithersburg, MD.

 

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of application principles, theories and concepts in field of interest plus working knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Provide assay /testing and decisions and recommendations; conduct independent investigations; generate internal or external documents valuable to the program; contribute to project teams.
  • Coordinate and establish relationships and possible collaborations within department, outside department, and outside the organization, such as customers and suppliers.
  • Use mass spectrometry for characterization and quantification of products in support of all vaccine and monoclonal antibody development.
  • Setup new methods, support project characterization, investigations, and trouble shooting.
  • Work independently within project teams to design, develop and optimize analytical assays and innovatively setup new mass spec qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Lead other chromatography or immune-assay method development and project support, as well as being involved in project presentations and cutting-edge scientific investigations.

 

Requirements
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) to four (4) years of related experience, in a scientific field, working directly in a research laboratory environment.
  • A thorough understanding of protein and process analysis with experience in quantitative and qualitative protein analysis for assay development is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrable ability to analyze, compile data independently, and to present at various group/department meetings.
  • Solid experience with computer software including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
  • Demonstrated experience with techniques used in the analytical development processes for products in development at the NIH are advantageous but not required.
