We are currently searching for an Immunology Research Associate to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with MSC, and it is on-site in Bethesda, MD.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA) following SOPs which may include; but are not limited to: preparation of reagents (buffer, standard, test samples etc.), perform actual assay and analyze the data.
  • Maintain mammalian cells and Plasmodium falciparum parasites cultures.
  • Perform parasite binding inhibition assays (BIA) following SOPs which include, but are not limited to: preparation of reagents, performing the assay and analyzing the data.
  • Perform opsonization and phagocytosis assays following SOPs which may include, but are not limited to: preparation of reagents, perform actual assay and analyze the data.
  • Perform DNA/RNA extractions and PCR and qPCR assays.
  • Interpret, evaluate, and discuss the results of each experiment with the principal investigator as part of the planning process for subsequent studies.
  • Perform laboratory upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and revise SOPs related to the immunological assays when needed.
  • Perform basic statistical analysis of data which is generated by the person.

 

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing biological research.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in managing and disposing of hazardous waste.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.
