In this vital role you will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and implementing domestic and international tax planning opportunities and business transactions. Amgens U.S. Tax Planning group is part of a world class tax department that provides global tax planning, transfer pricing, tax reporting, and tax audit defense for the Company. The U.S. Tax Planning group works closely with Finance, Accounting, Business Development, Treasury, Tax Reporting and Regional Tax in Amgens Thousand Oaks headquarters, its regional headquarters in Europe and Asia, and its capabilities center in Tampa, Florida. The U.S. Tax Planning Senior Manager will also work closely with Amgens Tax Reporting function to ensure that planning is properly reflected in Amgens financial reporting and tax compliance.

As a global biopharmaceutical company with over $20 billion in revenue, the Companys complex tax matters include mergers and acquisitions, collaboration and licensing transactions, research and development activities, supply chain and manufacturing, commercial operations, financing transactions, among others.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years Finance and Tax experience

OR

Masters degree and 4 years Finance and Tax experience

OR

Bachelors degree and 6 years Finance and Tax experience

OR

Associate degree and 10 years Finance and Tax experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years Finance and Tax experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8-10 years of experience in domestic and international tax planning with a Big Four Accounting firm and in the tax department of an outbound, multinational corporation
  • CPA and Master of Business Tax
  • Strong modeling skills
  • Significant experience working with tax issues common to outbound, multinational companies that own high-value intangibles, including deep knowledge of U.S. taxation of international transactions and operations (including GILTI, FDII, BEAT, FTCs, and 163(j)).
  • Significant transfer pricing experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting for income taxes
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions and other business transactions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Executive presence and ability to work effectively with senior management
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, lead cross-functional projects and manage advisors that are assisting with planning opportunities
  • Strong interpersonal skills that are critical in a team-oriented organization
