The Role:

Join our Digital Empowerment team as Senior Engineer, Research & Labs Digital Support, to inspire and accelerate new ways of working through stellar services to our R&D and Laboratory populations in Cambridge.  Reporting to the Director, Digital Industrial Systems, the Senior Engineer will partner with various lab business leaders in Research and Development to provide both technical and strategic support to enable the business to achieve their vision for long term success.  This role will require a blend of hands-on technical know-how along with the ability to anticipate long-term strategic solutions to meet business needs.

To provide a world class Digital Service program that perfectly matches Moderna’s critical priorities, you will work in close alignment with our Digital Business Partners and Business stakeholders across the Research organization to assess our research team’s digital context and expectations, identify unmet needs and skill gaps, promote new ways of leveraging technology and be a constant champion for them to digitize everywhere possible.

This position is based in Cambridge, MA and will be required to work on site.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with the Digital Empowerment End User Services team to manage incidents and requests through ServiceNow

  • Work closely with the Digital IT Infrastructure providers such as networking, cloud services, cybersecurity, and identity management to ensure IT services operate with no disruptions to the business

  • Collaborate with additional digital teams to develop an effective and efficient approach for seamlessly integrating IT technologies and capabilities with world class research science

  • Work collaboratively with automation engineers, plant engineers, lab engineers, scientists, and operations teams to effectively support the design, deployment, and retirement, of manufacturing and Lab IT systems by defining and following an SLA with your stakeholders

  • Provide recommendations to the business on IT solutions to meet requirements and objectives.

  • Ensure that any concerns regarding change management, security, technical infrastructure, and systems integration are considered for all Lab IT Systems projects

  • Support IT compliance and understand GMP or GLP processes. Understand IQ/OQ/PQ validation process for IT systems

  • Assist with business continuity plans/disaster recovery for lab IT systems

  • Support the implementation of cybersecurity applications and troubleshoot issues

  • Understand and assist network topology design of lab IT systems

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, physical science or related field required

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience working with IT infrastructure or End User Services in one or more of the following: Manufacturing, lab systems, control systems and building management systems.

  • Experience working for a pharmaceutical company preferred

  • Experience working with backup/recovery systems (Veeam, N2WS, etc.) required

  • Experience working with Cybersecurity endpoint protection applications (Symantec, McAfee, Carbon Black, etc.)

  • Understanding of network routing, switching and firewall concepts preferred
