ROLE SUMMARY

The PDM Diligence, Licensing, and Integrations Director will manage all due diligence, licensing and integration activities on behalf of the PDM organization within Medicine Design. In this highly visible and accountable role, the Director will liaise among leaders in the Business Development organization and Medicinal Sciences Licensing Management Team and leaders and subject matter experts in the PDM organization to generate high quality evaluations of in-licensing and co-development opportunities. The director will be accountable for the scientific and technical aspects of due diligence and integrations, and work closely with the Medicine Design Licensing and Acquisition lead on operational aspects. The director will also work with the latter to ensure smooth integration of in-licensed and co-developed assets and will develop and implement strategies to improve the overall diligence and integration processes. As diligence, licensing and integration activities ebb and flow, the director may flex into PDM direct project support as well, depending on organizational needs.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountable for business development activities (due diligence, licensing, integrations) on behalf of PDM

  • Represent PDM in developing the new Partner of Choice support model for Business Development activities

  • Work with leaders in the Business Development community to understand priorities and influence good decisions.

  • Work closely with the Medicine Design Licensing and Acquisition lead to effectively leverage resources within PDM organization to generate high quality evaluations of in-licensing and co-development opportunities

  • Inform PDM line management and advocate for the PDM position in the broader business development teams

  • Manage external resources, e.g., consultants, contractors, as needed when internal resources are not sufficient to manage the business development workload

  • Develop fit-for purpose strategies for integration of PDM-related aspects of companies, assets, and co-development projects.

  • Provide education and training in support of PDM technical due diligence and asset integration processes

  • Provide scientific leadership and strategic direction on behalf of PDM to projects in Pfizer’s portfolio, as time allows

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated ability to make strategic contributions and influence team decisions

  • PhD level education (or MS/BS with 10 or more years) in relevant field

  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills

  • 10 or more years’ experience in drug discovery and/or development

  • 10 or more years’ experience in pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and/or drug metabolism

  • Ability to integrate data from multiple sources into a rational understanding of drug disposition

  • Proficiency in human PK and DDI predictions

  • General understanding of drug discovery, chemistry and pharmacology

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience with drug discovery/development teams

  • Prior experience with in- or out-licensing activities

  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

May require supporting urgent business development activities (technical due diligence, providing reports and addressing leadership questions) during non-standard work hours including evenings and weekends.
