Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate/Associate Scientist – Discovery Biology

Summary

The Biology group at Arcus Biosciences is seeking a motivated, energetic, and skilled individual to join our expanding target discovery and validation efforts. The successful candidate will play a critical role in identifying and testing new targets in the immunology and immuno-oncology settings and advancing programs to early drug discovery stages.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing experiments to identify and validate novel targets for drug discovery efforts. As part of a collaborative team, he or she will contribute to proposing creative solutions to address gaps in the literature around novel target biology, experimental execution to efficiently answer outstanding questions, and presentation of results to the broader Biology and drug discovery groups. Experimental methods may include a range of genetic and pharmacological experiments in primary cells as well as cell lines.

Qualifications

• BS / MS degree in cell biology, immunology, or a related field with a minimum of 1-2 years’ research experience, preferably in an industry setting. Title will be commensurate with experience.
• Experience with cell culture of human and murine primary cells and cell lines
• Experience with common laboratory molecular biology and cell biology techniques, such as ELISA, qPCR, and Western Blotting
• Experience with multi-color flow cytometry, CRISPR, or other advanced immunology and cell biology techniques is a plus
• Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills are a must for this position
• Preferred personalities are willing to learn and adapt quickly, take initiative when warranted, are amenable to changing objectives and goals, and are interested and engaged in the science behind the experimental objective.
