The following specifications provide the job requirements for Wearable Data Scientist / Data Analyst Consultant for the Early Clinical Development and Exploratory Data Analysis group within Biostatistics and Data Management Department (BDM).  

Position Requirements

The following educational and previous clinical trial experience are required for this position:

  • MS in Statistics, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
  • At least one year experience in either a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.
  • Proficient in R programming.
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment, with high quality and attention to detail.  
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience/skills performing exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, machine learning, handling and manipulating large datasets, and producing high-quality and informative graphics.
  • Python and/or Matlab programming is a plus.
  • Knowledge of sensors technology is a plus

Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting the Exploratory Data Analysis group to perform hands-on statistical analyses of clinical data including both traditional endpoints and data from wearable devices.  Works under supervision and guidance of experience statisticians and device engineers, including the support of exploratory data analyses and digital endpoint data. 

The following are the essential responsibilities, to be performed under the supervision of experienced study and project statisticians: 

  • Performs analyses of clinical data and biomarker data, including digital biomarkers measured by wearable devices and prepares tables/figures to show and explain the results.
  • Prepares summaries of exploratory analyses, in both slide and text form, and presents results to both statisticians and non-statistician collaborators. 
  • Performs quality control and pre-processing of data collected with digital health technologies.
  • Creates and optimizes statistical computing scripts. 
  • Aids development and improvement of novel and existing digital biomarkers.
  • Working with data managers and programmers, ensures flow of data coming from wearable devices into appropriate regulated data systems.  
  • Supports design, execution and reporting of clinical trials.
