Director, Epidemiology

As a Director, Epidemiology you will be responsible for leading HEOR-epidemiology projects and activities to inform, support, and strengthen global development and commercialization activities. Using your subject matter expertise in epidemiologic study design and methods, for the design, leading all aspects of the execution, interpreting, and reporting of real-world evidence (RWE) studies. 

A typical day may include the following: 

•    Generating RWE in support of our research, clinical development, regulatory filings, and commercialization
•    Developing and/or reviewing protocols and statistical analysis plans for the generation of RWE to assess incidence/prevalence of disease, natural history of disease, burden of illness, patterns of treatment/healthcare resource utilization/costs, and (comparative) effectiveness
•    Interacting with internal partners to assess RWE needs and advise on feasibility and limitations to address knowledge gaps
•    Authoring epidemiology sections of regulatory documents (e.g., orphan drug designation application, BLA, etc.)
•    Collaborating with HEOR colleagues to disseminate RWE in compliance with company, industry, and regulatory requirements
•    Work cross-functionally to drive the incorporation of RWE into global development strategies
•    Maintain an up-to-date awareness of guidance documents and communications that may impact planning for and implementation of RWE strategies/studies
•    Collaborate with internal team members and Alliance partners on RWE studies and deliverables; build and maintain constructive and productive relationships across the Alliance.

•    Are at ease with an abundance of detail and complexity, yet mindful of the big picture.
•    Ability to work cross-functionally and present to internal partners, including senior management;
•    Have the highly developed ability to balance multiple projects and initiatives, prioritize them and implement them independently
•    You thrive in a fast-paced environment

To be considered for this you should have a Ph.D. in epidemiology, public health, health services research or related field. You are expected to have 7+ years academic, pharma/biotech, or consulting experience. Experience with designing and drafting observational study protocols and statistical analysis plans using real-world data (e.g. administrative claims data, EMRs, registries); Advanced knowledge of statistical methods commonly used in the analysis of large electronic healthcare databases (e.g. survival analysis, propensity scores); knowledge of AI/machine learning is a plus.
