  • This role has the flexibility to function on a remote basis for those outside the region OR corporate Basking Ridge NJ site based.

The Global Business Engagement Lead (BEL) will serve as the functional liaison out to multiple R&D Line Functions to maintain a regular pulse on functional needs, challenges, ways of working and improvement opportunities in order to problem solve, ideate and translate needs back to support groups in Global R&D Excellence. Then, to guide the build and deployment of the necessary solutions including ownership for defining and owning R&D functional technology roadmaps and business engagement plans. This position is expected to lean on their own deep business functional expertise as well as technical and process know-how to drive continuous improvement and optimization in Line Function delivery. This position will represent, socialize and encourage the use of Global R&D Excellence's suite of services across all levels and roles in the respective line functions. This position will be an active listener yet a consultant in nature, helping to advise on Line Function challenges and ways to optimize.

This position will need to influence and seek alignment and support from Line Function Head and LT members on prioritization of needs, embedment of solution/change and accountability for adoption. Equally this position must maintain a close line of communication with all levels of users/roles within the Line Function. Line Functions will rely on this position as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) to ensure fulfillment of data, analytics, reporting, metrics, systems, technology, process, innovation, and learning needs. The BEL will be responsible for drafting, maintaining and socializing a Line Function Account Plan as a living document guiding the interactions, priorities and strategy for Global R&D Excellence service delivery in the respective Line Function.

Responsibilities

  • PARTNERSHIP/CONSULTATION

Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) out to Target Function(s) to gather ongoing needs and facilitate delivery of solutions, answers to business questions, process refinement, innovation and learning needs.

Provide consultation based on business, technical and process experience on how to optimize functional delivery.

Build relationships at all levels within target function(s) so that you become a trusted partner and advisor.

Proactively seek out opportunities where data/tool/system/technology can be inserted to improve decision making, processes which could be simplified, formalized or automated.

Drive collection of requirements for any adhoc business questions, new tool builds, process improvements, learning needs, etc.

Socialize, Educate and Train on services and solutions available

Bring ideation, innovation and Problem Solving to tackle business problems and to improve ways of working.

Translate back functional needs/feedback to appropriate arm of Global R&D Excellence and help with solutioning.

Develop, Maintain and Align a "Living" Key Account Management Plan with Functional Leadership

Define KPIs to assess Performance, Adoption & Benefits of Global R&D Excellence Services within Line Function

Support inspection readiness activities as needed

  • OVERSEE AND DRIVE SOLUTION DELIVERY

Drive Prioritization, Strategy, Roadmap, Execution and Adoption of Global R&D Excellence services within Line Function(s)

Identify, escalate and overcome barriers of adoption of Global R&D Excellence services, managing risk and issues

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Business Process Engineering to support Projects requiring Process Optimization

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Learning & Development to support build functional/role specific content for ongoing training

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Metrics function in the definition, target setting and evaluation of KPIs, KRIs, KQIs of respective function(s)

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Analytics function to translate business problems to Data Scientists who can perform the necessary analysis and then help to extract insights to provide timely answers

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Solution development function to design out the build of visualization tools for end user consumption

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Analytical Resource mgmt. function to advise on the optimization of resourcing algorithms and to support the compliance of effort tracking and use of data in function

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Innovation Excellence to ideate over opportunities to drive transformational innovation projects

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Organizational Risk & Issue Mgmt to escalate known risks, ensure Risk & Issue Mgmt in-function, assess trends and share learnings

Partner in Global R&D Excellence with Global Business System Owners to drive improvements, adoption and source system compliance in Functional Source Systems

Maintain oversight and influence integrated project plans, timelines, resourcing and risk/issue mgmt. for all technical and process projects ongoing with Line Function to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery

Support the ongoing evaluation of system usage and feedback collection & funnel back to Global Business System Owner with recommendations

Lead communication and support change mgmt to target function(s) on behalf of Global R&D Excellence


Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.


Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

  • Bachelor's Degree Life Sciences, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Organizational Leadership or equivalent work experience required
  • Master's Degree preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 10 or More Years Supporting target global R&D line function(s) with deep understanding of processes, roles, data, systems and metrics required
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all organizational levels through clear, concise, and impactful verbal and written communication skills are required. required
  • Experience in a business partnership providing consultation and solutioning is required
  • Experience in working to transform processes and solutions is required
  • Experience managing large change projects from business case development through delivery is required
  • Global experience serving as the liaison between Business & IT, translating business needs into technical solutions and technical jargon into business speak is preferred
  • Experience drafting effective communications to stakeholders of all levels is required
  • Experience establishing and dissecting global business processes, cross-functionally in alignment with industry Regulations is required
  • Experience as a System or Process SME or helping to drive requirements, build and implementation of solutions within the business is preferred
  • Global experience as a consultant or a business relationship/customer facing role is preferred
  • Proven ability to work in a global and highly matrixed environment is preferred
  • Experience building partnerships, collaboration and cross-functional initiatives is required
  • Experience defining and generating business performance metrics is required
  • Knowledge of key industry regulations relating to R&D practices is required
