About Acrivon

We are a clinical stage oncology company leveraging our unique precision medicine platform, called Acrivon Predictive Precision Proteomics (AP3), for development of our drug pipeline. AP3 is used to generate proprietary OncoSignature® companion diagnostics to identify the patients who will benefit from our medicines. The name Acrivon (derived from Greek for “accurate”) embodies how our OncoSignature® tests link the patient’s active tumor-driving mechanisms with the drug’s mode-of-action to accurately match our therapies with patients who will benefit independent of underlying genetic tumor alterations.

Through its highly specific patient selection, the company seeks to accelerate clinical development and increase the probability of successful treatment outcome for patients.

Our pipeline includes the advanced Phase 2 lead program, ACR-368 (prexasertib), a clinically active CHK1/2 inhibitor, as well as preclinical structure-guided drug discovery programs targeting critical nodes in DNA Damage Response (DDR) and cell cycle regulation.

Position Overview

Acrivon Therapeutics is seeking to hire a highly motivated and innovative Scientist/Senior Scientist, to provide hands-on support in laboratory studies with a focus on translational research and biomarker discovery in the oncology area. Working collaboratively and as a member of a cross functional team, the candidate will have ample opportunity to grow and contribute to our understanding on mechanisms of action/resistance as well as characterize and evaluate predictive and pharmacodynamic biomarkers for patient selection identified using our proprietary Acrivon Predictive Precision Proteomics (AP3) platform. Acrivon's leading biomarker work has the opportunity to be readily implemented in clinical trials across our entire oncology pipeline.

This position reports to the Executive Director, Biomarker Development and will be located at our US headquarters in Watertown, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research to help elucidate mechanism-of-action and resistance mechanisms through experimental design, execution, and data interpretation.
  • Participate in translational research studies to interpret and rationalize clinical observations and validate biomarker findings using patient cancer tissue samples, as well as cells and tissues from in vitro and in vivo models.
  • Develop novel mechanism-of-action models that closely mimic human cancer to enable biomarker discovery, answer mechanistic questions and validate biomarkers for therapeutic targets.
  • Participate in analysis of large phospho-proteomic data sets from drug profiling studies of both cell lines and tissue samples through signal transduction pathway-based analyses
  • Contribute as a member of a diverse and motivated team of researchers across Oncology disciplines and key internal and external collaborators.
  • Read and critically evaluate literature to keep abreast of scientific and technological advances
  • Lead or contribute to scientific publications

Qualifications

  • PhD in cell biology, cancer biology or other related scientific discipline with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in academia or industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cancer biology, signal transduction, oncogenic signaling pathways, and/or translational biomarker research required.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in several of the following areas are highly desirable:
  • Tissue culture: cell lines, 3D-cultures, and organoids
  • Histology (IHC, IF, tissue processing, other)
  • Cell-based assays: cell proliferation and viability assays, reporter assays,
  • Molecular and Cellular Biology: Western blotting, ELISA, Realtime qPCR,
  • Experience in microscopy
  • Demonstrated expertise in development/optimization of in vitro/ex vivo assays is desirable
  • Proficiency in data collection/analysis/documentation of all study results in the form of lab notebook reports
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external colleagues are required
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively and constructively implement solutions within the broader teams
  • Candidates with a proven track record of quality research and deep scientific knowledge as evidenced by high impact, peer reviewed publications highly preferred
