Job Details

Resilience seeks a talented Scientist to join our Cyto Innovation group. The successful candidate will be a founding member of a team evaluating new technologies for Resilience’s regenerative medicine programs, establishing workflows and generating data to demonstrate the capabilities of novel stem cell platforms. The team is seeking a hands-on scientist with expertise in human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) cell-based assays. This Scientist is expected to collaborate across functional areas including process and analytical development, platform R&D, and cell therapy manufacturing. The Cyto Innovation group is driving the generation of a well characterized iPSC bank, optimizing methods for differentiation into various cell types (myocytes, neurons, hepatocytes, etc.), and partnering with other groups across Resilience’s cell therapy team to generate scalable solutions that increase cell yield, enabling novel regenerative medicine therapies to be produced at scale.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and perform experiments related to the characterization of HSC, iPSCs and differentiated cells using best-in-class techniques.

  • Contribute to the development of Resilience’s iPSC platform and establish related workflows involving cell-based assays that correlate to patient outcomes, including: pluripotency, differentiation, viral transduction, genome editing, cellular metabolism, activation and proliferation, cell signaling, cytotoxicity and cytokine analysis for cell therapy process and product characterization.

  • Maintain and enhance current knowledge of emerging technologies in the field of stem cells, regenerative medicine, and cell-based assays.

  • Provide scientific input to solve technical challenges, working collaboratively with colleagues within the Resilience Cyto Innovation group as well as cell therapy process development, analytical development, technology evaluation and manufacturing teams.

  • Proficiently document work with electronic laboratory notebook (ELN).

  • Analyze, interpret, and present data in internal and external meetings.

  • Author and review SOPs, reports, and technical documents.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in cell biology, molecular biology, bioengineering or a related field.

  • Previous experience in life sciences development in an industry context (5+ years for BS; 3+ years for MS; 0+ years for PhD).

  • Experience with iPSC and HSC cell culture and cell processing methods.

  • Experience designing and performing iPSC and HSC cell-based assays to analyze differentiation, proliferation, cytotoxicity, and/or other cell phenotypes.

  • Strong record keeping skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment, working with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or prior experience with cell therapy product and/or process development.

  • Knowledge of cell therapy product development and electronic laboratory notebooks.

  • Experience with analytical tools such as flow cytometry, cell counting and size measurement, cell viability assessment, bioprocess analyzers or similar methods.

  • Familiarity with statistical and data presentation software applications such as Minitab, JMP, and/or Power BI.

Other Ideal Personal Characteristics

  • Intellectually curious with an open, inquisitive mind regarding the future of medicine and biomanufacturing.

  • Embodies the Resilience phenotypes of grit, rigor, service, EQ+IQ, builder mentality, velocity, and ownership.

  • Collaborative style, with an ability to build consensus among internal and external stakeholders.
