Summer Diversity Internship Program
Neurona offers a paid annual Summer Diversity Internship Program. We partner with directors of the MESA (mathematics, engineering, science and achievement) programs at local community and state colleges to request applications from their undergrad and post-bachelor's students. Interns are paired with a Neurona employee, trained in relevant laboratory techniques, and guided to perform a summer research project. Interns attend weekly scientific and career-development seminars. At the end of the summer, interns have the opportunity to present their research findings to the company. Our goal is to help build diversity in the sciences.
See below some of the projects we'll offer this year:
1) Tissue sectioning, immunohistochemistry
2) Assist in sample preparation for immunoassays, flow cytometry, polymerase chain reaction, among other techniques in support of Assay Development / Quality Control team's goals -Utilize various software types to analyze and synthesize data produced (Microsoft, FlowJo, JMP, Prism, etc.) -Learn how to operate in GxP compliance (GDP, GLP, GMP) -Help maintain lab space through inventory management and routine cleaning schedules -Collaborate with other teams to discuss methodology/results
3) Immunohistochemistry(microtome sectioning, immunostaining, tissue mounting, scanning), cell counting, histology analysis, presenting data
4) Processing fixed tissue (slicing, histology), quantifying markers (IMARIS), data analysis option to learn about: clinical device, genotyping, general bench work
