Manufacturing Systems Engineer

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer within site Digital Team will be the executor of the Resilience automation strategy across the Resilience manufacturing network, including greenfield capital projects and asset integration enhancement initiatives.

This individual will lead the implementation, operation, and maintenance of digital biomanufacturing automation systems onsite (e.g. process control systems, SCADA systems, manufacturing execution systems, data historians). This includes supporting the configuration, administration, and maintenance of these systems. The Manufacturing Systems Engineer will collaborate with peers across departments and/or cross-functional teams to ensure completion of projects and will act as a Digital Liaison between the site and Enterprise systems teams.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support automation systems including deployment/enrollment at the site as well as implementing modifications to improve operational performance and product quality.
• Lead automation activities throughout technology transfer into the manufacturing network and provides continued support throughout manufacturing campaigns.
• Provide Subject Matter Expert support to Manufacturing, Technical Operations, and other departments for the design and operation of process automation services.
• Coordinate with Digital Quality and Site Quality to ensure the successful implementation and management of manufacturing/automation systems onsite.
• Propose potential new manufacturing technologies, including, but not limited to, automation and new equipment integrations.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously to keep projects on track and on time.
• Build relationships and collaborate with site business teams for Manufacturing, Technical Operations/Engineering, Manufacturing Science/Strategy & Technology, and Quality organizations
• Accountability of 24/7/365 mission critical services and IT services in Manufacturing & Technical Operations realms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline. Preferred area of study:  Chemical, Biomedical/Bio, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Tactical knowledge of digital automation with 10 years experience with Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configuration, field instrumentation installation and troubleshooting, as well as process control experience
• 5+ years experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) integration, Batch Control Systems (S88) and automated plant controls systems.
• Hands-on experience with IT change management across domains (security, software, network, hardware, etc.)
• Fluid collaboration skills across business, IT, and external vendors/suppliers

Preferred Experience

• 3-5 years of project management and coordination experience associated with the execution of capital projects in an industrial environment.
• Fluency in supporting the digitization of manufacturing & engineering business process by bringing the IT know-how to business partners in Manufacturing and Technical Operations.
• Developing / supporting IT environments and understanding network, server, and database architectures.
• Experience with the Cloud preferably AWS and key approaches to security and change management/deployment
• Builder mentality that seeks to produce innovation, agility, and velocity to support business-as-usual operations and new project implementation.
