ROLE SUMMARY

Planners have an understanding of drug development, resource management, and associated business processes. Planners are accountable for the generation and maintenance of high-quality Planisware project schedules associated with the VRD program teams, supporting the operational/strategic delivery of new vaccines. Sr Associate planners should have exposure to scheduling and resource forecasting tool(s) (Planisware), definitions and standards, and associated systems and tools. Asset Planners may support several different types of schedules in support of a development plan which may include but are not limited to candidate/indication, clinical studies, submission, launch, and Rest of World planning. Planners play an essential role in supporting the RAPID (Resource And Planning Insights for Decisions) program. RAPID is a key strategic imperative that supports a “fit-for-the-future” model of the processes, operations, and systems for the planning and management of Research and Development resources (dollars and FTEs).

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reports directly to the Vaccine R&D Portfolio and Planning Lead
  • Partners primarily with, Planners, VDM, and members of project teams to ensure accurate, integrated project reporting in RAPID.
  • Collaborates with Planners, WRDM and BU colleagues, portfolio, and system colleagues (e.g. Members of partner lines to drive the development of new technologies and continuous improvement of planning processes, tools, reports, systems).
  • Collaborates and supports Asset Planners to provide Vaccine Research and Development Strategy and Operations in creating and maintaining RAPID / Planisware data.

Planning/Controlling (Scheduling Management)

  • Participates in and contributes to cross-functional and functional teams to discuss, review, and optimize protocol/project/program schedules, and resource management plans.
  • Contributes to the validation of resource information at the project level with the project teams/members.
  • Provides project management support (development plan creation) to early-stage (pre-candidate selection) programs in support of the Vaccine R&D Portfolio and Planning Lead

Project Execution and Delivery

  • Provides the Portfolio Operations group with project schedule information to enable effective portfolio management activities.
  • Provides project manager support (development plan tracking) to early-stage (pre-candidate selection) programs.

Analysis and Reporting

  • At the discretion of line management, produces what-if scenario analyses in Planisware (base, optimistic and pessimistic development) based on context derived from documented request or manager.
  • Facilitates use of existing reporting tools by customer base (e.g., Snapshot, Spotfire).
  • Conducts analyses of cost, resource, and activity tracker data to provide insights into VRD resource allocation and efficiency
  • Supports annual operating plan processes by collecting and collating program plans and specifications
  • Acts as VRD point of contact for administration of Activity Tracker
  • Responsible for quality of schedule and resource flag data through review of quality reports and monitoring/management of such data with the team/line members.
  • Ability to act and problem solve issues identified in reporting

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelors level degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience required
  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience leading projects in a team environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and approaches
  • Some experience with planning and resource forecasting tools (Enterprise Project Management, Planisware) is preferred
  • Good cross-communication skills

Project Planning/Management Expertise

  • Proven track record of planning or managing projects
  • Drug Development Knowledge

Technical Proficiency

  • Technical proficiency is a key competency for this role.
  • Technical proficiency includes experience in the use of project planning and resource forecasting tools and systems (e.g., Microsoft Project, Planisware)
  • Rapidly mastering new software tools
