We are looking for direct leadership within our growing team in our Alameda, California location. As the Director of Quality Engineering, you will provide leadership and drive quality results for Penumbra's life-saving products.  Pivotal accomplishments for the person in this role will be to ensure products are manufactured in a compliant manner, changes to these products are governed by systems with risks identified and mitigated, new products are ushered into manufacturing, and leading teams and individuals so they contribute, succeed, and grow.
 
Working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, R&D, Production, and other groups.  You will represent as leadership for Quality Engineering and support efforts towards the company mission.  You will help set goals for teams to work towards.   Identify and integrate new methods and technologies into our product and processes. You will drive to pursue quality solutions, innovate and see projects through to completion that will leave a lasting impact on Penumbra's products!
What Success Looks Like
  • Work with senior management to develop company and site goals
  • Establish and execute engineering strategies
  • Manage teams to execute strategies and fulfill goals
  • As a leader, manage the quality engineering functions of project transfers within a multidisciplinary project team
  • Mentor staff with attention to coaching for optimal performance, and professional development
  • Drive department and cross functional teams to achieve timely root cause analysis and implement solutions for production issues
  • Ensure compliance with product transfers and subsequently maintain compliance in the production environment
  • Maintain or enhance the supplier provided material
  • Identify and implement processes improvements or solutions for cost effective and quality product
  • With a high level of customer service, provide awareness, guidance and solution-oriented support to quality requirements to department and cross functional departments

What You Bring
  • A strong foundation in Quality, Quality Engineering, and Quality Management systems
  • Excel with challenging problems, including grey areas, and is solution oriented
  • A passion for growing and developing a high impact team
  • A proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing Managers, Engineers, and other staff members to excel
  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of related experience required
  • 5+ years of people management experience required
  • Experience in medical device industry preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills, along with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other computer applications
