About the role

Sana Biotechnology is growing, and we are hiring new team members who believe in the potential of engineered cells as medicines, who want to challenge status quo, and who lead with the desire to work on novel ideas. As a Senior or Principal Research Associate, you will report to Senior Scientist to accelerate the development of transformative medicines. We are looking for a candidate to enhance Sana's essential bioanalytical capabilities, specifically in the area of ligand binding and cell-based assays to support discovery, pre-IND studies, platform and research programs. In this laboratory-based role, you will perform in vitro experiments to support gene and cell therapy drug development. You will have demonstrated technical proficiency, exhibit scientific rigor, independent thought and working in a team-oriented environment.

What you'll do

  • Laboratory-based position, directly contribute to data generation
  • Work under the guidance of Senior Scientist while demonstrating independence specifically in experimental execution
  • Help develop reliable Ligand Binding Assays, including ELISA, ECL MSD, Luminex; Enzymatic activity assays and other platform methods
  • Help develop reliable Cell based analytical protocols, including several reporter gene, Flow cytometry and other analytical platform methods. Work with several types of cells, including hepatocytes, T-cells and PBMC's
  • Apply protocols for detecting protein concentrations in several biological matrices
  • Apply protocols for detecting immunogenicity responses against biotherapeutics and other components in different biological matrices. This includes detection of Anti-Drug Antibodies (ADA) and Neutralizing Antibodies (Nab)
  • Perform data analysis and interpretation and be able to draw main conclusions
  • Carefully and diligently document experimental information following our policies. Make detailed observations, interpret results and document experimental methods in a well-maintained laboratory notebook
  • Contribute in report writing, SOP, and other technical document preparation and review
  • Present results at team meetings
  • Comply with company policies

What we're looking for

  • Senior Research Associate: Master's degree or Bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of laboratory experience in an academic or industry setting and proficiency performing independent research
  • Principal Research Associate: Bachelor's plus 6 yrs or MS w 4+ yrs or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Hands-on experience with the development of Ligand Binding Assays (LBA)
  • Experience working with cell lines (primary and immortalized), demonstrated competence in sterile cell culture technique, and developing cell-based assays
  • Understanding of Bioanalytical principles for PK, PD, and Immunogenicity assays for biotherapeutic drug development
  • Excellent teamwork and engage groups with diverse functions within a matrixed organization
