The Role:

Graphite Bio is seeking a highly motivated Scientist I or II, Bioinformatics, to support Graphite’s growing bioinformatics needs.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the design and implementation of bioinformatics workflows supporting state-of-the-art next generation sequencing methods
  • Build systems to support data capture and integration
  • Investigate new technologies to characterize Graphite’s preclinical and clinical products, including long-read sequencing approaches, scRNAseq, scDNAseq, and linked-read technologies
  • Collaborate with scientific teams to provide specialized bioinformatics analysis
  • Work with IT to move bioinformatics pipelines from prototypes to cloud-based production.
  • Assist with streamlining and automating genomics workflows
  • Support interdisciplinary projects spanning from discovery research and preclinical pipeline development to clinical science

What You Will Bring:

  • MS in related field + 2 years industry experience, or PhD + 1 year industry experience
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Expertise processing raw Illumina data
  • Experience working with R and Python for bioinformatics analyses
  • Amazon Web Services experience
  • Familiarity with workflow automation
  • Experience with workflow languages a plus (Nextflow, WDL, CWL, Snakemake, etc.)
  • Experience establishing schemas and relational databases a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of cell and gene therapy a plus
  • Excellent communication, organization, interpersonal and scientific writing skills
  • Proven ability to positively impact company culture and demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment
