Combining scientific and/or technical knowledge with strong program management skills the Discovery Portfolio Reporting & Analytics Manager will play an internal consultancy role, conceiving and conducting analyses to inform discovery portfolio related decisions and understand their consequences. This position is a key partner for Senior Scientific Leadership, Research Program Management, Discovery Scientists, and Operational Managers, assuming overall responsibility for designing and conducting interviews to understand needs and providing analyses to address questions critical to our discovery portfolio. This role requires strategic thinking around key scientific and operational data assets, business analysis, and communication; enabling effective analysis and reporting. You will have a combination of information systems know-how, analytical expertise, and scientific acumen, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adeptly shift between diverse priorities.


As a Manager in Research Program Management, a typical day may include:

Project, Program, Portfolio Management


-  Executes responsibilities independently - with awareness of internal/external interdependencies

-  Operational management of discovery portfolio, program, and operational analysis and reporting

-  Assumes a leadership role on data analytic projects – proposing project approach, collaborating with relevant functions, and driving the project forward from start to finish


Discovery and Drug Development


-  Identifies and understands key discovery project/program data driving decision making; developing models and analyses that address these key questions

-  Responsible for discovery models, analytics, and associated dashboards / reports


Process Management and Improvements

-  Subject matter expert in discovery pipeline analysis

-  Provides data and insights to identify opportunities for new process or process improvement solutions


System and Tools Management


-  Subject matter and technical expertise in analytical systems and tools, providing guidance and training to others

-  Supports enterprise dashboarding, reporting, and metric generation efforts

-  Develops and owns discovery portfolio and operational models and analytics

-  Fosters strong working relationships with key stakeholders on project and/or program teams and across departments. 

-  Demonstrated ability to understand and independently act upon information or issues that have potential down-stream impact on other functions and teams

-  Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills

-  Handles multiple projects and priorities with exceptional organizational and time management skills (both project and self)

-  A strong command of analytical techniques, statistical reasoning, and familiarity with data resources.

To be considered for this role, you must have an MBA or PhD in a related field with 2+ years (or BS/MS with 7+ years) relevant work experience. Experience in portfolio analytics or management consulting preferred. We are seeking an individual with broad scientific, technical, and industry drug development knowledge and is well-practiced in project management techniques, processes, and related software (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire, QlikView, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
